extremely high idle?

what are the things that would make my car run an extremely high idle? when i turn the car on it shoots up to like 4000 rpm and stays there. what could be causing this? I replaced the IAC, and the timing was checked.

check the sensor thats in the air intake see if its put correctly or the ones on the side of the trottle body what motor is it sometimes if they are not pluged in they tend to stay at a high idle
