first car first changes, need some power ideas !

my new car, first car at that a 1998 camaro,v6 better then nothing . . . only spent 5 grand too, im looking for new rim first thing but i found out torques dont come in 16 with my bolt patter, so now i am gonig to sell my stock z28 rims for 17in rims with some new tires 8], also wondering if the xenon side and front will match my z28 rear kit? finaly i am getting some ticking from under the hood the previous owner said it was the fuel injectors but i wasnt sure whether to believie him or not, what can i do about the ticking

Besides that i need some information on some cheap part for some good hp, i love power my dad has a bored out, rebuilt 35o with preformance 4barrel holley, hooker headers custom 1976 vette i have driven this a few times but i want that power, i need some cheap but helpfull suggestions , i work as a cashier at walgreens average 6oo a month during the summer il ahve about 1.5k to spend please help me out

Knowklew 03-12-2006 12:45 PM

stock tire and wheel size is 245/50/16.

MyFirstCamaro 03-12-2006 08:33 PM

im thinking of some new part starting with a throttle body , a air intake.... need some recomendation on thoughs for a fair price

paarman97maro 03-12-2006 08:36 PM

Air intakes will basically all do the same ranging from $20-70. I spent 60 on my CAI from ebay.

Intake and exhaust is the starting point for everything. Lets your car breath and exhale better :D.

MyFirstCamaro 03-12-2006 08:45 PM

my baby is breathing through some new flowmasters, dont know what spefic kind because ididnt put them on or buy them, but i was looking at headers but my pop doesnt want me to get them so i went to the next point.....it alreadys has some new struts and springs and brakes so il worry bout upgrading thoughs some time in the future

i got another question , the bezle (or the frame around the cassete player) does that just snap off or what

paarman97maro 03-12-2006 08:55 PM

Yeah it snaps off.

MyFirstCamaro 03-12-2006 09:03 PM

anyone live close enough to go to the car shows at car isle pennslyvannia, and is it worth going to the show april 19-23 caratcarlisle.com

MyFirstCamaro 03-12-2006 09:19 PM

TCS Logic Module

does the TCS logic module 1 come with the manual button to your dahs to turn off an on, if so that woul be a fun little device to get

NoRiceInside 03-12-2006 10:19 PM

dont waste money on a throttle body yet---if you can even get one for a 3.8---dont know that you can---but that wont give you much if yours stock. and the intake for your car is different. paar got lucky cuz his intake is a traditional type...the 98-02 intakes are much different.

you can get the fast toys intake setup:

http://fasttoys.net/shop/product_inf...products_id=28

paarman97maro 03-12-2006 10:23 PM

Yeah I keep forgetting these 98 ers have different intakes :banghead:

NoRiceInside 03-12-2006 10:25 PM

yeah those 98-02 intakes dont seem very efficient...even modded.

"oh look, theres a small crack here in front of the radiator...lets get air from there!"

hell the SS and WS6 ram air for those years evens sucks too. it just routes air in front of the air box and lets the small gap between the airbox and the radiator cover suck the extra air in.

paarman97maro 03-12-2006 10:26 PM

But the 98+ Firebirds at least have cool looking front ends :p :nana:

MyFirstCamaro 03-12-2006 10:52 PM

alright so no throttle, cia i havebeen readingf seems pointless if you can save money, what are good wires and intake for the 98'

tommara im going to get the pics up for the avatar and sig. , is there people that can make me them

They have been proven to get the same gain if not more then what the intakes are on the 93-97 models. If you just get a Whisper Lid and no ram-air intake you will notice a difference in accel I did because that lid made that much of a difference. Then you add in the ram air and that brings in ALOT more cold air then you think. Do you even know how there installed? Where there placed?

V6Cam 03-13-2006 12:07 AM

having the Ram Air hood help with that installation

Ram-Air hoods are differnt from the ram air intakes....The hoods bring in the cold air onto the top of the engine where a filter sits.....Ram air inatkes suck it in from under the car into the CUSTOM CUT HOLES u make (those CRACKS caleb said) That goes into the Lid or aftermarket lid for much better air flow and way improved accel and power.

Mike Jones 03-13-2006 12:14 AM

You cut out the bottom and you instantly get a lot more air in there.

V6Cam 03-13-2006 12:21 AM

i see how it is,

Yup....as shown in these pics. You cut out around those dotted lines there and under that is where the intakes slides down and sucks up all that air!;)

MyFirstCamaro 03-13-2006 05:32 PM

that a good idea but iastill ahve the stock one, and today i got my stadning burnout on video 8]
