fuel pump
well my car died right when i got into a parking space at work today and i just thought i ran out of gas cause of how it died, well i got gas for it after work and it still wont start it sputtered a little at first but now just cranks and doesnt fire at all and ive narrowed it down to the fuel pump but i checked the fuse and the relay and im thinking im just gonna have the crapy job of changing it , can anyone think of anything else it might be besides just having to change the pump itself.

If you do have to change the pump, its really not that bad if you do the "trap door" method Its not the 'recommended' method, but its the cheapest/easiest way to do it yourself.

Good luck.

sure you can do a trap door, i wanted to also. but good luck finding someone stupid enough to take a torch to that panel above the tank.
if you can get a fuel gauge put it on the rail. get a jumper wire and hook one end to your positive terminal of your battery and the other to the fuel pump prime connector:

if you hear it prime or the fuel pressure increases, the pump is working. otherwise, rent a lift. it makes taking the tank out easier.

ugh ive done too many fuel pumps. its never a fun job. just try and hit the tank a few times with a rubber hammer to get it going for now. at least it will get you to a place to work on. ive gotten lots of fuel pumps going like that.
oh and i hope your tanks not full lol

Take it in unless your for sure that is what it is. and if you are an *** you can buy your own part take it in and get the part back and take it to an autozone for a quick 75 bucks. i think i paid about 250 for instilation on a 97 v6. part was like 200. the idea of dropping the tank and the rear axle doesn't sound fun to me.

400 bucks? **** i spent200but that might be why mines still not running right. the best i can tell you is get it diagnosed and get an estimet. because then if it still doesn't work you can blame them and it will be their *** not yours. i'm not sure if there is a fuse and/or a relay because the book says nothing of it. and i can only find the part on one sight. and if it just dies and wontrun again it seems to sound like the pump because my parents had5 cars and all needed new fuel pumps down the road. hope this helps.
