Gas Gauge

Well my car was just about on empty, since i can't move it and drive it to the gas station. So I got my gas can and put five gallons in it. I put about 4 gallons in my car and saved one for my 4 wheeler. I turn the key to the on position and my gas gauge went really slow up to almost a guarter tank. I figured it usually goes up when you start it right? WELL when i started it i watched it go straight down to empty again. I let it run for a couple minutes and it only went back up a little. Is my gauge broken or is my car sucking gas like crazy? HELP!

more than likely the sending unit is bad. Very common in GM vehicles. That's exactly what my bravada did

new is $235 at advance. Your car do new it's a pain to change, and at it's age a used one may not last very long
