headers? a pita ?

i have a 1991 pontiac firebird with a 305tbi. I was looking at a set of hedman headers for 150bucks. how hard is it to install them? is it a real pain in the ***? also, right now i have a cat-back exhaust...... is this going to make my car a lot louder ? thanks

its a pita but you could handle it. took me about 9 hours total to take off manifolds and install the headers. make sure they come with the y pipe if they are shorties. if they are lt's good luck getting your catback to work with the. it will make your car sound a little different i think for sure. it will sound like it has more power but maybe only a little bit louder

set apart twice as much time as youre planning.

Have another car ready in case you need to go buy more parts, or run into issues.

lt's if ground clearance isn't an issue. if your car is street driven and sits really low get shorties

Actually Long tubes Bring HP/TQ down in the RPM range, Shorties are opposite. Dont get me Wrong, You will Gain power unless you have a old 305 thats gutless as Hell.. Just ask your Self this, When you open the throttle Wide open or close to it, does the car scream? or could it be better?

Yea, I drive a '92 S-10 during the winter, its got a 4.3 5spd... 4wd Its got decent amount of power, Hell of alot more than them 2.8's UGH! But I get in the camaro, and its like HOLY SHI*!!! And then after driving it a while it gets old and you start looking for more..

Well, you got one of those L03's... Eh, not the Best motor For HP.. 170 stock.. A cam isnt any good with the heads.. The heads are prob. 192's Swirl Ports.. Junk.. I have a L05 with 193's Swirl Ports.. I get 25mpg, and run Low 9's in the 1/8 mile. With the right Torque convertor you can do alot..

I wouldnt waste money on headers.. Get some Used heads or something.. I'm guessing your a teenager.. So new is like Out of the question.. $$$ but get some used heads. something for a 350.... you can put in a cam if you want later.. But the heads you have now are pretty close to worthless..
