Heater core exchange

Has anyone changed a heater core in their gen 3? I recently just found out that mine is beginning to leak. I am wondering if anyone has any shortcut tips. I have my haynes that'll ill follow otherwise. thanks for everyones input.

I just might have to do that...I don't drive it in the winter, she's just sitting in the garage...but then again there are those cold a$$ mornings in the middle of the summer...I'll have to ponder the thought

PITA but it can be done if you have avarage mech. skills it took me like 4 hours I think. the center concole and radio has to come out!

just remember if you bypass it, you have no window defog (putting on a coat is no big deal, but not being able to see is)

I just replaced one in my 86. It's a pain, but not impossible. If you have someone who can help you line it up by lookin in the engine compartment. It took me a little over and hour. If you take the top part of your dash off you can see a little better. I didnt have to take my consle out, but it might make it easyer. Good luck though.
