How can I clean the engine bay?
I've been trying to clean my engine today and it looks alright but i need advice on what u guys use to clean your engine bay.Whether its brushes ,solvents or pressure washers..I brought some engine cleaner from autozone and i used a toothbrush (lmao) to scrub certain areas but it could be better!

dude, dont get my started on this.lol. thursday i must been at my engine compartment for a good 4 hours with a toothbrush,greased lightning(degreaser stuff) and a bottle of water to rinse. ill get some pics up soon, but yea it was lots of elbow grease and time basically.

i wouldnt because of opti and other things under there. personally i had the whole day off and set my mind to doing it and knew it would take a while so i just used some old fashioned elbow greas and lots of time and it worked great.

It sounds rediculous, but toothbrushes really do help... They get in those tight places. I use simple green, and 2 wire brushes of different grades... It is time consuming, but thats how it gets done.

****well i do have to say this is the easiest and BEST way to clean your engine bay, All you need to do is drive your car (i know you can't) around the block and get the engine hot, then take a spray bottle of armor-all original and spray the entire engine bay. Close your hood and leave it for the night. I just did this to my car and it works great! i got the tip from a local corvette guy so yeah it's easy and i even had some radiator fluid yellow crap all over my engine block and it took that right off. If i ever figure out how to put pics on here i can give you a before and after. but definatly the easiest way to clean an engine bay***

yea i would always just go with scrubbing with a brush and some degreaser just dont drive around then try to spray it with a hose or something cause i see people do that all the time and its a good way to crack something (metal cracks if its hot then u cool it really fast its called thermal stress) i know most people know that but just thought i would add it incase someone didnt

I'm with the others on here, just use a mixture of degreaser and tooth brushes. Works wonders. My engine bay was black with crap and now you can actually see white paint in small areas. Takes a lot of time, but when you start winning at car shows, it's all worth it. Plus, if you ever do work in your engine, it helps for it to be clean.
