well...what size is she

archemedes 08-26-2005 04:03 AM

started life as a 1250 then was modified by the carb shop in Cali. they didn't tell us the exact flow, but said it was substantially increased  I had it on my '75 to get it home (should have seen teh rigging that took on the torquer 2 intake on a 305, the flames were cool too)

JesasaurusRex 08-26-2005 11:04 AM

she might actually be a tad big, dry flow means nothing tho wet flow is what counts

can you put a cam from a 350 to a 305

archemedes 08-28-2005 01:53 AM

yeah they are pretty much the same engine just different bore

DMR94 08-28-2005 06:28 PM

they told me it was really high performance do you think the 305 could handle it what can i do in order to make the 305 run fast do i need to take it to a machine shop or something

archemedes 08-28-2005 06:39 PM

make a 305 fast hook it to a boat and use it as an anchor, the 305 is a horrible design (the cylinders are too small for good flow)really high performance cam is a little too vague you need real spechs

JesasaurusRex 08-28-2005 06:56 PM

its not that the bore is too small for any real flow...well kinda, in theory a 305 should be able to make just as much power as a 302, actually should be able to make 3 cubes more. However since the bore is so small you cant get any decent sized valves on there. And thats what makes the 305 such a horrible design.

archemedes 08-28-2005 07:03 PM

see they cfan't support flow :nana:

DMR94 08-28-2005 11:09 PM

so it wont work cause i just got it and want to start building it with all the highperformance parts should i get a 350 instead or what

JesasaurusRex 08-28-2005 11:13 PM

If u get some vortec heads that thing can have some get up n go, i dont know of any other heads that flow as well as those with the 1.94 (i think it is) intake valve size.
