Most of the time it is because there is air in the coolant system. Our cars have pressurized cooling systems, and when there is air in them it will sometimes set the low coolant light. You have to bleed the system by loosening the bleeder screws located on the thermostat housing, and on one of the top radiator hoses.

the sensor going bad seems to be relatively common on gm vehicles lately (dexcool ones)

dont even worry about it. check it every few weeks by just checkin inside the radiator and fill it when nessecary. take the light out if you want. mines always on. its goofy and i realyl could care less.

do you do the same with the ses light or oil light? it's saying there is a problem with the car, it bugs me when people ignor that stuff

my SES light and oil light dont come on. the car runs at normal temperature and the radiator is plenty full. its a very common sensor to go bad on LT1's and even if its not the sensor the light is known to always be lit on a lot of LT1 cars.

that indicates a problem, my point is if the light is on it means something is wrong common or not ignoring a problem is not a good thing, it's like driving with the oil light on because someone elses was on. Never ignore a warning light
