lol I forgot to mention that when I checked my oil after the light came on, I was on full.. :nana:

when the oil gets too dirty it won't be detected by the sensor, that sensor going bad is uaually a sign of oil changes being too far between, or something in the oil

haha, can you say ghetto. you should prolly have an oil press. gauge and temp. gauge too but hey, at least if you get pulled over you can be honest with the cop.lol

thats most likely what it is, theres something in the oil. when its not running it settles and the sensor picks it up, so it makes sense that if i turn it off and start it again, that whatevers in it has moved around and isnt detected anymore.

but i just changed the oil not too long ago...hmm...about 1200 miles ago and 2 months...

meissen 01-04-2005 09:22 PM

yeah the last time I changed my oil before this recent one was in the spring... so it was definitely too far between.

what kind of oil? I have seen some that do strange things in a short time (we had a truck read full on the dipstick and wouldn't drain it only had 1300 miles on it, the oil was jelled)

I'm confused, what car is yours? The 3rd gen in your sig or the 69 in your avi?

that's a decent oil but a bit thin for your temperature area (5w30 is best in Canada and alaska) The only oil weight GM puts in cars is 10w30 that's at the factory and dealer, guess what weight I use

69z-28 01-05-2005 08:04 PM

sorry for jackin the thread... i thought i already made it clear but i guess not, sorry. the 69 is my dads car, the third gen RS is my car, when i joined i didnt have my car so i decided to use 69z-28 as my name and just figured everyone knows me by that now so theres no point in changing it.

my owners manual says 5W-30 is best for my engine. i tried 10W-30 and had weird oil pressures so i switched back.
