LSX comming soon

Ill have the LSX Intake Manifold in about 1-3 months. But its a for sure thing.

Mike Jones 06-29-2005 11:57 PM

Do you currently have an LS6, if so I know someone who'll take it off your hands. ;)

97z2801ss 06-30-2005 01:44 AM

01s n 02s have ls6 manifolds

McGruff 06-30-2005 04:11 PM

Make sure you buy the FAST or TPIS TB to see any sort of gains...

From what I hear though, the $1400 isn't worth it...

I know but with all the other mods done to the car I wasn't sure if the previous owner put an LS6 on there.

bLkWdOw SS 06-30-2005 10:58 PM

I dont know Ive heard people say It does have the LS6 but then people say no its the LS1, IMO its the LS1 but I dont know you figure it out.

JesasaurusRex 06-30-2005 11:06 PM

its a Gen 3 motor done and done

Knyghtmare 06-30-2005 11:44 PM

2 ways you can tell if its an LS6 is by if its off a Vette it doesnt have the EGR hole on the top. The second you would have to take it off to look at the bottom, but if the bottom is recessed then its an LS1 and if its flat on the bottom then its the LS6.

Mike Jones 06-30-2005 11:50 PM

I don't see the EGR behind the tb so that's a good sign.

JesasaurusRex 07-01-2005 01:02 AM

me not knowing the LSx based engines too well im guessing the LS1 and LS6 bore/stroke is different? Yes/No? If not its the exact same motor in a nut shell. Im still curious on why they made the bore smaller on the LS1 and the stroke longer. Not that its necessarily a bad thing *cough* 305 *cough* but cubes being equal (or almost equal LS1 vs Gen 1 or 2 350) id opt for the bigger bore shorter stroke.

Mike Jones 07-01-2005 01:04 AM

The LS1 and LS6 really are basicly the same engine, the major differences are the heads, cam, exhaust.

JesasaurusRex 07-01-2005 01:23 AM

ya same engine in my book

archemedes 07-01-2005 01:24 AM

kinda like the old engines were available with 250 hp and up depending on options

ya i figured, i just didnt know if it was different like the LS7 or what ya know even tho still basically the same motor just different bore/stroke

They really are, I mean '01-'02 FBodies had LS6 blocks and intake manifolds and a lot of people think Z06 clutches for the M6's.

That EGR hole thing is ********, not all of us have the hole for it in our stock setups.

The bottom however is much different on a LS6 - Check www.ls1howto.com and read the article regarding the intake swap, it has some good pictures as to the differences...

bLkWdOw SS 07-01-2005 04:03 PM

so then its a ls1????

McGruff 07-01-2005 11:25 PM

The best way to tell is after you've taken it off, just check the bottom...

Exactly, you won't know for sure until it's off.

1BADVETTE 07-02-2005 02:29 AM

I'm pretty sure it is, because I know on the LS6 intake, the EGR tube thing isn't there on top of the intake manifold. I know for a fact that 01-02 came with the LS6 IM and the 98-00 came with the LS1 manifold. You'll see a nice little gain going from the LS1 IM to the LSX IM.

if the bore and stroke is the same size and things bolt up exactly the same no matter how good or bad the part is its the same motor

97z2801ss 07-02-2005 03:23 AM

Im ot gonna let theis pass me by

so putting a different intake on a 350 won't help it?

you keep saying same motor, sure it's the same basic engine. Just like the 4.3 tbi and vortech were teh same basic engine, with that argument the 3.8 in the camaro as the one in my gp. It's an argument for teh sake of argument

Arch Arch Arch...i know already that you like to argue just as much as me :lolsign: but if it uses the same block same size bore and stroke its the same motor, atleast in my book, one can be 10 times better than the other but none the less same motor.

bLkWdOw SS 07-04-2005 04:41 PM

I called the previous owner and ask if it was or was not the ls6, And they said it was the LS6 it was an after market modification. The ran a 13.2 at AZ Elivation.

Let me know when you get the LSX intake on and how much you'll want for the LS6.

bLkWdOw SS 07-05-2005 01:15 PM

I was told that since I already have the LS6 not to go with the LSX, it does work better but the price is to much to pay for just a few extra H/P so instead Im getting the Jet Chip, or some kind of bad *** chip that and I can have it alot sooner.

archemedes 07-05-2005 01:17 PM

get a reprogramed pcm

bLkWdOw SS 07-05-2005 01:32 PM

I want the covette heads now. I love that look of corvette under the hood. How much would the LS6 conversion come to? A nice 4-5k I assume. If so then never mind. :banghead:

archemedes 07-05-2005 01:39 PM

check www.sdpc2000.com

97z2801ss 07-05-2005 03:41 PM

corvette fuel rail covers??? u mean? If ure gonna do a set of heads....Id look around n get a better performing set then Ls6

JesasaurusRex 07-05-2005 08:52 PM

off the shelf chips are gay and a waste of money i dont care what arch says spend ur money else where

archemedes 07-05-2005 09:05 PM

on the obdII chips don't do a thing since you can't replace the chip

JesasaurusRex 07-05-2005 09:10 PM
