Well, Im very lucky... Ive been kind of looking for a guide to go by to install my headers, and a couple days ago a guy just happened to post a guide with the same exact headers I have, a 97 and all. So I read over that to get a better idea... Basically removing the manifolds took the longest, he ran into trouble with an 02 sensor, and lining the EGR up.

I went over to a friend of mines house last night, he was putting longtubes on an LS1 (hugger orange also, Ive never seen one in person, it IS a cool color ) so I got to help him out with that, and he taught me a couple things, and gave me a couple pointers. He got both of them in, with minimal help in under an hour.. Granted he had the EGR elimated, but thats still pretty quick. He said if he can do it that fast on an LS1, a 6 should be cake. Im not too worried about it anymore, just getting the manifolds off thats gonna be difficult I think.

Anyways, Im excited to finally get to do it next week

Well today went well... The whole exhaust is off, but the manifolds still remain on... I need to get 3 more plugs out, and get the manifolds off also.. The heat shields are whats holding us up. So tomorrow Im hoping we can get those off pretty quick so I can get the rest on and hear it! Ah, Im so pumped, I just wanna get those damn manifolds off.. theyre pissing me off cause theres like no room at all to work with hardly. Any tips guys?

i hate it when there are just a couple bolts that are stopping everything but im not sure maybe penetrating lube if u just need to break them loose but if not maybe try a couple extensions and get some room to really turn it just my opinion but dont forget sound clips after cause im curios to hear how it sounds

Sounds good, enjoy getting those manifolds off. For my LS1 in order to get some of the back header bolts off I had to litterally lay accross the engine. My arms wouldn't get there any other way, including going from under the car.

Well day number 2... Still not finished. I know, its taking longer than expected, but it WILL be finished tomorrow. The hard part is out of the way... The headers are finally on. I wanted to destroy the manifolds and those gay *** heat shields after I got them off.. they are ******* worthless, I hate them. But today we had a lot of progress, and tomorrow SHOULD be a breeze... Dont have to worry about working in cramped places anymore.

I got the manifolds off, replaced the spark plugs, got the new wires ready to be put on.. i got my air filter cleaned off completely, so now its practically new again. Got the headers in, bolts tightened, and the lockers on.. got like 3 left for tomorrow, just the clips. Then I just gotta do the y-pipe, cat, and the rest of the exhaust.

Its taken a lot longer than I expected. I learned that I hate heat shields and manifolds on f-bodies. Tomorrow Im glad that it will be done, and I hope that theres no problems. Just updating you guys.
