Depends on if you want Dry, Wet, or Direct Port...
Dry, I suggest the NOS 5177 kit... Great all around dry kit, comes with most of the basic saftey features and at a good price... I got mine from Tbyrne.com... they sell it for $539.99... This is what I started out with...
http://www.holley.com/HiOctn/ProdLin...NOSNS/GM2.html
Wet, Well I can't say enough about the TNT(Texas Nitrous Technologies) Power Ring Kit for the LS1... Either Force 1 or Force 2, just depends on the size solenoids and size shot you want... You can get that from LS1Speed.com pn#F-1003-10 $667.00 and pn#F-2003-10 $723.00 the Force 1 is adjustable from 75-150 and the Force 2 is 150-250... I have this now... It is an amazing kit...
And for Direct Port I used the Nitrous Express NXL kit, and hated it! It was a beotch to change pills, and it really didnt give very impressive gains on the dyno... But if Direct Port is the way you want to go, see Nitro Dave at NitroDaves.com He makes some amazing direct port system (Very pricy, but very good quality) He is also a sponsor over at LS1Tech.com, and usually has some good deals over there...
There are alot of other systems out, but the only advice I can give you is stay with the big names... Nitrous Express, NOS (Even though played out by ricers, still makes good kits) and TNT are the big 3 in LS1 performance...
I have not had any personal experience with companies such as Zex, Nitrous Works and Cold Fusion... But as with anything, you will get what you pay for...
But when and if you do go with juice... Don't be stupid, start with the small shot, then work your way up... Use all the safety devices such as Window switches, wide open throttle switches, fuel pressure shut off valves, etc...
Don't go all fast and the furious and just hit the button and hope for the best...
If you want more explanation as to what all of theses devices do, let me know, I can go more in depth...
If you have anymore questions about the difference between the different types of kits let me know...
Hope this answered a few of your questions... If not, I'm always here!
