Noob domestic question [[engine swaps]] rb20-cavy

im new to domestics, to be quite honest this is my first domestic ever. back when i had my civic i had relatively no problem with an sr 20 det into a 92 civic dx (a few friends and an engine lift+12 hrs= cakewalk). unfortunately i had to sell my civic to pay for college and now that im done i basically bought the first thing to come my way a 95 cavalier z24 to get me to work. now that im working full time and have some extra scratch i want to swap out the oem engine and get some hybrid action going. my plan is for an rb20 in this cavy i know the mod work will be entirely insane thats why im not doing it (im a sound/12v/body guy engine mech is really not my strong suit).

in short im looking for the answers to these questions....

1) is it possible
2) if so best methods
3) best engine shop to buy/mod/install
4) if not possible sr20det or other jdm options?
5) limit is $6000

id say anything is possibe, depends on what you want to spend. 6k into a cavalier, im not saying a hybrid wont be different but youll never get it back on a resale. some cars are just better to mod then others. 6k can get you a civic shell and some dough to play with for all the other stuff, but thats a road many have taken. im sure its possible, never heard of the swap idea so i couldnt comment on mounting or any of that. personally i just think its a big hassle when you could make things easier and buy a car suited towards your engine swap.

With today's powerplants, it's best to drag the whole works. Engine/tranny/computer etc as a unit. It's certainly possible, but if you have your heart set on a Japanese motor, it would be a lot easier to put it into a Japanese car.

It's not like a 95 Cav is a major investment. Buy a car that will mate with your choice of motor. The labour cost of this swap is probably worth way more than the car.

As mentioned above, you'll never see most of this investment again on resale.
