not trying to seem dumb just asking

i know by heart that long tubes are allways better than the pacesseter headers know i have a couple a questions is only this way with v6's or all engines in generall, why are long tubes better, and finally would you spend the extra 500 on long tubes than the regular pacesetter or its not worth it?

archemedes 10-14-2005 07:13 PM

long tubes make a different torque curve, so really which is better depends on what the enigine will be used for

paarman97maro 10-14-2005 07:31 PM

what about for a v6... which is the best choice there? Im also wondering, because Im going to get some in Jan

archemedes 10-14-2005 08:22 PM

same thing.Engine basics don't change based on engine size. For most guys on here long tubes are the best choice

Mike Jones 10-14-2005 08:31 PM

Don't know about the 3.8 but for my 3.4 there are no longtube header's made for it, just shorties.

I have a message into hooker asking about best choice for a street strip car, just to see what they recommend

Lucky for me in 2000 the V6 came with tubular headers so there fine no need for headers not till I start the major engine mods.

Honestly how much power would you make now with the headers compared to what they cost? I can't imagine it making sense unless you happen to have the extra money laying around.
I put header's on my 3.4 but I bought them dirt cheap. They were the RKSport one's but they were a floor model and I bought it on eBay for next to nothing.

exactly they cost way to much then getting them on so as said my tubulars are fine I mean there far better then the other headers on older v6 fbodys.

Yea i feel the same way about my formula, yea its a ls1 but for the money on header and y-pipe and all, its not really worth all that money and work unless you need it. my car could wake the dead up the way it is now with the stall and LM cat-back. I get busted on all the time people are like learn how to drive your riding the hell out of that clutch (because of the stall) then im like its a auto man i have a stall and they are totally dumb founded, funny stuff

so would you suggest getting headers with a new exhaust? I am getting a Magnaflow in January, and I was thinking about headers as well... I want it to sound loud, and mean... Ive heard headers amplify that, but I would like better opinions from you guys... is it a worthy investment with my new magnaflow? I want to get a 3" catback

digiphaze 10-17-2005 06:45 AM

If I put aftermarket headers (doesn't matter type). On my 98' 3800II, can I FINALLY get to my sparkplugs? :lolsign:
