ORY Help

I bought a Texas Speed ORY to go with my LT Headers.. Well the ORY came in 4 different pieces.. I was wondering if these need to be welded or what.. The people I have talked to told me that there would be no welding at all.. But I am wondering how they go together without welding.. Can someone help?

do you have clamps?

NoRiceInside 04-19-2007 07:49 PM

it should have come with clamps. my guess would be band claps, which are junk.

here's what i would do. weld each individual section of the y-pipe, but clamp the headers to the pipe and then clamp the catback to the pipe. that way the y-pipe is solid and there will be no leaks, and then since its clamped into the system you have options of changing things around if you ever decide to.

only problem with this is, you need to weld it once its installed in the car. so unless youve got a welder at your house, youre gonna need to be at a shop when you install this crap.

I was going to say the exact same thing as Caleb.

The hardest part is finding a shop that's willing to do welding on a car with no cats.

plus installing headers is a lot of labor to pay for and its something i'd wanna do myself, so the problem is getting it to the exhaust shop with open long tubes.

:stupid:

the thing about welding the individual sections of the y-pipe is a good idea for the catback as well...

so install everything and use clamps on everything. then just take it to an exhaust shop and say you wanna weld here, here, and here. problem solved.

I need a lot of mine welded still haha.. its been clamped ever since I put it on.

3" band clamps from napa! adjust them to where the bolts are not hang low and but use a impack and the band clame will streach around the pipes! I have had mine for over a year and still no leaks! They are stainless to and look great!

here ya go http://img258.imageshack.us/img258/6901/cimg1798ap5.jpg

See how they stretch around the pipes! :)

oh ****. first look i assumed your car was black. thats a dirty undercarriage :D

and i would suggest not using an impact on anything other than a bellhousing or lug nuts. thats about it.

paarman97maro 04-20-2007 12:38 AM

Underneath my car is black.. but thats the rubber undercoating.

But yeah those clamps are awesome... I may need to pick one or two up.

FORCE_FED_Z 04-20-2007 04:38 PM

That black is called undercoating, not dirt.

And yes, those clamps would be the way to go...hold tight and they don't crimp your pipes either..

NoRiceInside 04-20-2007 05:59 PM

well the ones i dealt with were flimsy as hell...

paarman97maro 04-23-2007 01:42 AM

This thread totally jinxed me... Ill post it in another thread tho haha..

I need to get one of those band clamps.
