Which is overdrive?!??!

Lame question but WHich one is Overdrive? the D or (D) ?? Im pretty much in D all the time. (v6 3.4l)

(D)

D isnt bad until you get above 40 I think (not sure about the 3.4s), then it keeps shifting back and fourth in the 40s since OD isnt kicking in.

Someone once said D is good for racing, and OD is good for regular driving. I think I agree with that. I raced my friends Mustang GT in D from 60 and it kept up with him far better than OD

I seem to stay in D in rural areas but out in the open road going up hills or whatever I'll let off the gas and switch to (D).

Hills usually you should be in D.

yeah, most times depends on the speed your RPMS are higher. Which means your using more power

i dont think you guys know whats really going on...drive is gears 1, 2, and 3 with engine braking. overdrive is 1, 2, 3, and 4 with no engine braking.

has happened before, the manual is written by an outside company. On steep hills you want d it's to save brakes (hte engine slows you down) any other time you want od (unless pulling a trailer, and if you do that with your f body get out and lay in traffic please)

but i dont see how D will get be better for racing. in OD you have a whole other gear to go faster.

You have that whole other gear until you shift up to the next... I dont know if its just my gears or what, but once I hit 4th gear, it slows dramatically compared to how I was traveling...

When I raced my friends stang in D, I got up to way higher rpms without the shift. D still will do computerized shifting... I still get od when im in D somtimes, I dont know why.

No, i was just saying when I was racing from a roll at 60 it helped me.
