Ok, so you have those connectors on them that Bernotas05 posted up right? If you have those on and crimped right then the only thing I can think of is you just mixed the 2 connections up, because as far as I know if you have the pos and neg backwards it won't sound right.

you need to get those connectors in order to have it work better. what you are doing is the lazy way out and probably won't last long. those connectors you can get at a wal-mart for like a buck and then you can (if you have to) use normal pliers to crimp them as long as you don't go crazy with it

It could make a huge difference, try it they should be really cheap. then you will know that the connection is right. You just slide those connectors on those tabs on your speakers.

did you ghetto rig your stock ones in. I think if it was a fuse it wouldn't play at all.

I dunno man, the only thing I can think of is your connections are bad, so I'd try those connectors that you should be using. Other than that I have no idea, when I did mine all I had to do was strip the wires crimp the connectors and hook it up.

Yup, check the back of the speakers to make sure. I'm pretty sure those are what you need. If you used a good set of wire strippers you should have a crimper on that thing too, so you shouldn't have to worry about that. When you put the wires in the connector, strip a good enough amount of the plastic off and fold the wires over so you have double the thickness of the bare wire, put the connector on and crimp it on the plastic end, then plug 'em into your speaker. That's how I did mine.
