possible broken tranny mount?

hey guys i read on here a while back about someone having a broken tranny mount. i was wondering how did they know and what were the symptoms? i have this weird bumping sound that seems to come from right under the center console. i thought it was the exhaust banging against the bottom(just had the cat replaced) but it all seems tight. it only makes the noise while moving and it isnt constant. it comes and goes. the wife says that it goes away when she lets off the gas. any ideas what it could be?thanks in advance

Very possibly the tranny mount. I knew it was going bad when she shifts I felt a hard thud under the center console. Of course, the easiest way to find out is to jack the car up, take the cross member down and look at the mount. If it's bad you'll know it.

is it a manual or stick? mines a manual and i knew when i gunned it the shifter jumped 2 inches. mine never cluncked, which is what i was told is the sign, so i went with it like that for almost a year. take a look. mine was torn almost completely in two.

autozone STOCKS a polyurethane mount for something like 23 bucks. get in the zone.

Thats definately possible that it would be your tranny mount. As Norice asked, if its a manual, does your stick move at all?

And if your wanting to check if its the exhaust making the noise, check where your exhaust goes over your right rear axle, thats the most common place where it bangs.

if when you stup on it and it sounds like a grinding knocking sound right infront of your shifter it is mostlikely the tranny mount. the stock is a polyeurethane piece that is meant to break if stressed and like someone said easy and cheap fix. ask eZnasty...thats my friend and he broke it twice i think

if you hear a thud when you accelerate its probly the tranny mount. thats what mine did. i would replace it if i were you either way. i did this and the torque arm bushing at the same time.
