Project Protect & Go Fast

I have officially started my new project. Over the next couple of weeks I will be doing three major things.
1) Installing new Viper alarm system
2) Weight reduction
3) Installing Harris Speed Works Nitrous Kit

I have a couple pics of my progress so far. The pics come with questions as well. While I have the dash out for the alarm install, I am going to remove as much weight as possible. The first couple of things to go are the Air bags and the stock stereo wiring. I need to know what the items are in each pic.

The silver box in the first pic.
The black box in the second pic.
The two Grey boxes in the third pic.
The fourth pic is just the mess I am dealing with.

Are they all parts of the Air Bag system?

Worthless post. I am not asking for you to agree with what I am doing. This post was asking for help, not who can not help.

It has been fun so far. I am just going to pace myself over the next week or two so that I do not get frustrated and so I can hide it as well as possible. I took out what I now know is Air bag equipment. I guess all the AB stuff is wrapped in yellow tape. I still need to know what the other stuff is though so I know if I can rip it out or not. The alarm I went with is model 881XP. It has the remote start and alot of other functions I was looking for. I am very happy so far.

pacing urself sounds like a good idea so u dont get all pissed or rush and mess something up but have u looked for part numbers that u could just look up with good or something, thats my only suggestion, arch will probably end up being the person who knows something like that

Anything that deals with the airbag system is going to have either yellow tape or yellow connectors. If you can take the airbag system out without damaging it you might be able to sell it and make some money back on it.

As far as the other boxes I'm not sure- but I wouldn't recommend just hacking wires- easy way to end up with a big mess.

how hard was it to take the dash cover off? it always seems like it would be so much work. I really want one of those viper alarms, they are super nice. Pacing yourself is always a good idea, thats what i have been doing for the past year with my car.

Now that I think about it, it really wasn't that hard. The only thing is that as soon as you think you are ready to take it out...there is one more bolt, then one more and so on. Does anyone know if I can tap into the passenger side door lock and door pin wires instead of the driver side and still have it function properly??

I have already deleted the rear seats, seat belts, spare tire, jack, winshield washer tank and some other small things. I already took the air bag system out, so it is a little late now . Does anybody know if I can totally take out the VATS system and still have my car start? Since I am putting in the new alarm, I don't think I need the VATS anymore. While I have the dash out, I want to get it down to bare bones wiring. If possible, I want to get rid of the stock stereo wiring, VATS, and Air bag wiring. Can anybody help?

it seems like this whole thread is a waste. taking out wires, solid state controllers, and relays wont give you any benefit at all.

If you actually read the thread, every single post has a question or two in it. I started this thread asking for help with numerous issues. How is that pointless? I am not looking for any kind of benifit other than cleanliness from removing wires. Why leave wires present that aren't being used? The only thing making this thread seem pointless is people asking me to replace my seats instead of staying on topic and dealing with thier own issues about wanting to make thier car sound and look like a real Z28.

given your project, delete all the wire harnesses, and redo it all custom, it will be a better quality, and you won't have to hack it up. Deleting airbags get a service manual, if you do it wrong they can deploy, and if you are in the wrong spot you can be killed (I never understood making a car undrivable though)
