ouch just thought i would throw out there that you would prolly loose more weight with seats then wires but i guess WTF do i know?

The first couple of things to go are the Air bags and the stock stereo wiring. I need to know what the items are in each pic.

The silver box in the first pic.
The black box in the second pic.
The two Grey boxes in the third pic.
The fourth pic is just the mess I am dealing with.

Are they all parts of the Air Bag system?

hmmmm here we say that we are trying to shed as much weight as possible

Sorry for any confusion. I am trying to shed as much weight as possible yet still retain everyday drivability. While I have the dash off, I want to make it as clean as possible. The main purpose of this thread was to find out if I could eliminate the pictured items and still retain the drivability. I must have mis-understood you when you said "replace" instead of "remove".

if you remove the airbags the car is no longer legal to drive on any road in the US (removing a safety item is very frowned upon) I also saw you eliminated the seat belts, the stock belts don't weigh that much, and if you didn't put racing ones in again it's illegal to drive it (and can't be raced either)

I only removed the seatbelts out of the rear of the car. Since I deleted the rear seats, I did not see a reason for the seat belts. The front seats still have the belts.

I know most 5 pt harness's are obviously safer then the standard 3 pt, but a lot of them aren't recognized by DOT- but most cops don't know that.

I wouldn't bother with it, but just keep in mind that some places are jerks about it. If you want to be safe, use the 3 pt during driving public roads and the 5 pt at the track.

Eventually I will go with some racing seats and five points. Until then the ol' three points will have to work. I just need more money
