Question..

Im not really sure what this classifys as, or what topic it should be under, so I am going broad.

Ive noticed, just since I got my headers/exhaust on (could be a coincidence) that lately whenever I floor it from second and it kicks into OD, its around 6k and it makes like a skipping sound, and then it shifts... It almost sounds like the car is cutting out for a split second, then the gear catches. Im really not sure what this is, thats why Im asking... and if I should be worried about this.

No, not at any point when Im driving.

I should clarify that my car is not actually shutting off... It just sounds like from a hard acceleration when its going to shift, it sounds like it just cuts out for a split second... and the gear catches, almost like its shifting too late.

may be your running a bit rich and the gas is detonating in teh exhaust, and it does have a slight miss.

how would I be able to fix that? Ive been using the lowest possible octane (89) or whatever it is cuase its so expensive.... Could it be somthing with the plugs or wires since I recently changed those too?

maybe the plugs are too hot and make it pre detotnate and making it misfire? im not completely sure, did u check the plug gap when u put the new plugs in?

yeah.. the gapper didnt go big enough... But I think it was supposed to be like .6, and the gapper went up to .45 and it still slid through easily... Will it make a huge difference if in the worse case scenario im off by .1? Again, is this somthing I should worry about... Dont tell me its fine and my car blows up in a week lol

lol it wont blow up i dont think but if the gaps off it could mess with detonation or if its too close it might me arcing and if its too far then it might not be igniting right arch will probably tell u soon lol he still knows alot more than i do

well .6 is way too big. i've never seen something with that much gap. im not saying its not possible, just double check it.

what do you mean by when you floor it from second it kicks into overdrive? your trans accelerates by upshifting...wow you've got more problems than a hesitation

no im just being my usually ******* self. it sounds like in the process of shifting, the 1st gear band engauges before the 2nd gear clutches disengauge. so it almost stalls and locks up.

might not be it, but what i know from my transmission class i had, that could be a cause. dont know if its a likely one, but if someone here knows a good deal about the 700s they could tell you.

This is where I got the plug gap from: http://www.projectcamaro.net/forum/s...ht=spark+plugs

Its when I go from 2nd gear, so it would be second to 3rd then... Is this a sign that I may have a bigger problem soon?

overdrive is 4th gear.

but i thought you said youre flooring it from second. that would shift you into 1st.

It might be a Fuel cutoff under WOT..... might just kick in for a split second pre-maturly since you have less backpressure............... doesnt sound like a trans problem... sounds like a Fuel or spark thing............... also maybe a PCM thing..... mabye you should look into a Tuner or a JET chip

i agree doesnt sound like tranny problem to me from what uve said but im still going with my theory on the spark plug gap just jacking up ur detonation, but if it is u could always adjust the gap and see if it fixes the problem before u rip ur tranny apart to look for a huge problem
