Quick question

So.. im pretty much an autocross noob. Suspension is one thing ive never had to worry too much about, all of my time has been spent keeping the car going fast in a straight line so I know very little about it.

Here is my question, in about a month im going to an open autocross event in a parking lot near me with my fellow f-body car club members. While alot of my car club guys are going to use their DD imports, im going to be using my camaro. I know the fundamentals of driving, drifting, and powersliding etc, but ive never tried to do anything major like this with my camaro. Closest ive come is some closed course rx-7 drifting.

Anyone that has tried it before can give me a few tips on autocrossing a near suspension-stock camaro? Or warn me on what im potentially getting myself into? I know im not going to do well, im not going to try to win, just to have fun. (Keep in mind its a M5 v6)

any worn parts will be glaringly obvious. Adjust your seat so your a bit closer and upright to the wheel (good idea in any racing) sometimes slower is faster (aka going all out may make you have to take longer to get around the track) I've only been a couple times and it's not easy to do well, but most of the parking lot ones don't get the good drivers (they guys who think they are Boris Said)

So far my biggest concern is my gear ratio. Im running 4.10's and im gonna have to be shifting like a ****. Whats the easiest way to do this? Lowball a gear but lose my powerband? Or hightail it and feather?

play with it, your gears will screw you. It depends how long the straights are really.

From the idea I get from the people holding the event (A BMW club, if that doesnt explain it all) its going to be a very tight course, straights no longer than 8-10 lengths.

Which means for me i'll never see any gear besides 2nd and 3rd, if I even get back down into 2nd at all. Nitrous is straight up ******* pointless lol.
