Rear end suggestions?

Sorry, there was no way to make that title sound good, lol.

As you may know, I already have my engine.
http://www.projectcamaro.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=18403

All my front end parts and subframe connectors are going to come from Hawks Third Gen
http://www.hawksthirdgenparts.com/in...ROD&ProdID=780

What I'm looking for is suggestions on a rear end. I want to be able to put discs on the back and I also want to be able to drive this car. I don't want it just geared to run 1/4 mile at a time.

???

this is one of those time that some one would have to say... "Shouldn't you go see a Doctor about that"

12 bolt Moser LSD w/ 3.73's would be a cool set up

currie 9" anything else is going to be a bit weak, and harder to swap gears. Do a 9 inch and get 2 carriers, one for cruising the other for playing

Both Moser and Currie make nice bolt-in 9" systems for a 3rd gen- worse case you could pick up one for a 4th and get different offset wheels.

I've got a Moser 9" with a Detroit locker, 35 spline axles turning 4.11 gears in the back on mine.

Not too much worry about breaking it either

Thanks for the responses guys.

I was looking at Mosers website. If I go with their 9", my choice for gears would be 3.50, 3.70, or 3.89 I think. Anyone know if the 3.89 would be too much to still drive highway occasionally?

What would you recommend for splines with that setup? Says I can go 28 to 35.

I'd do the 3.70's given the lack of racing you plan on. 35 spline is supposed to hold up better, but either will be fine I think

The more splines the stronger- but typically the more parts are for them. The 35 need a different case which are a little harder to come across, but still hard from difficult.

And like Arch said earlier- if you DD most of the time go with a lower gear, maybe 3.50 or 3.70, then stuff some 4.11's or possibly higher for when you want to run the 1/4. It would only take an hour to switch the cases out.

Thanks again for the replies.

Called Moser. A complete 9" posi with 3.70 (and extra 4.11), 31 splines (largest I can get with posi, and a complete disc brake setup is $2910.

I need to buy my rims and tires first so I can measure the axle length I need. They will make it the exact length I want and the bolt pattern I want.

Now, I am taking this as meaning that I could buy whatever wheels I want as long as they fit under my fenders. Correct?
