I don't think there is a way really. When I got my car tuned I rasied the rev limiter to 6k and when the clutch is in (equivalent to you being in park or neutral) it'll only rev to 4k. Otherwise it'll go to 6k though. Just a safty thing, it's not ONLY your car.

my rev limiter is at 5.7k and it goes all the way weather im in gear, in neutral or clutch puched in. i have the t5

I see no need to really want to rev it that high. I guess my exhaust is so loud I cant imagine reving it that high all the time haha.

well i dont really care about that anymore... Ive just been wondering why there even is a rev limiter in park now... Is there somthing Im missing as to why park is different than neutral other than it locks your wheels...

I'm sure there's a reason I just don't know it. Maybe they figture there's no real reason to rev it all the way up so they put that in?

paarman97maro 02-04-2006 12:56 AM

yeah, who knows. I dont know why I even asked this in the first place, I was just curious.

2000v6cam 02-04-2006 01:36 AM

my guess is that they figure that you wouldnt want to rev it all high when your just sitting there plus i think its worse on the engine because its just spinning with no type of resistance from the wheels moving but thats just my guess

Bernotas05 02-04-2006 01:40 AM

Yea there isnt really a purpose to rev your car to hell just sittin there, i wouldnt do it

archemedes 02-04-2006 02:59 PM

they have it lower when in park because the load on the engine will change the way it reacts to that speed (time to that speed for instance as well as recovery)
