S10 V8 conversion

Can anyone tell me what to expect when doing a V8 conversion from a V6 S10. I dont have one at the moment and was wondering what is involved before I get into a load of trouble lol. I was looking around the 1988-90 range and I understand their are the 2.5, 2.8, and 4.3L engines. I have a 350 motor and transmission waiting to go in.

Thanks

if you want a king cab s10 that already has a 305 and a brand new tranny with a shift kit let me know. its not mint, but runs, it was a project of someone i know that just never got around to finishing it off. he'll probably let it go really cheap.

the only trouble youll have is converting your probably mechanical speedo output on the tranny to the electronic vss dash. Not a big problem you just have to get the adapter. The mounts are all the same they will bolt up just make sure you get some s10 v8 headers from heddman or some other company and if you get the s10v8 mounts it will make things much easier as they are adjustable and you wont have to give the firewall the sledge treatment to fit the tranny in. Any other questions let me know.

its pretty simple actually man u can bolt up a 305/350 to a 4.3 ltr v6 transmisson so if u can find a 4.3 chevy s 10 its really a simple project

If you're using S10 with the mechanical speedo as I did on a 85, then you can use transmission as is. A medium length Turbo 350(6 or 9" tailshaft housing?) will allow you to use stock driveshaft. The trans crossmember was used by moving to another set of bolt holes on frame. I heated and "clearanced" front crossmember for starter. I used some plate off of the front crossmember to use mid 70's OEM V8 engine mounts. I used a pusher style electric fan with an thermostatic switch. Also, had to losen steering column mount and push towards fender to give room for steering shaft.
Email me if you have any other questions on my swap. I know later ones with electronic speedos are different.

Most of the older s-dimes have kits available to buy that allow you to just bolt everything up. Hvan't seen to much out there for like 95 s-dimes n newer altho there has been many done.
4.3 with 2000km for sale for any takers aswell. 1500 obo
