shift around 2300 rpms sounds right to save gas, why are you so concerned about this?

Depends upon the situation. Base it like this.

The earlier you shift, the better mileage your going to get, thats the bottom line. You are also going to get better gas mileage if you coast, which means pushing down the clutch and letting it roll to a stop light, down a hill, etc. If you get in the habit of doing that, you'll save quite a bit of fuel.

u can listen and tell if the car is reving too high or too low a rule that kinda works alot with these cars if u dont know is just stay in 1st for 10-20, 2nd- for 20 -30, 3rd for 30-40, and 5th is kinda high so probably not till like 70 ish just listen for it ull get used to it, and dont worry that much when u shift does make a difference in gas mileage but as long as ur being resonable its not gonna make as big a difference as you probably think
