Side Exhaust

Now that I don't have to drive my car all winter I think I'm going to go back and do the side exhaust project I wanted to start before but I couldn't since I had to drive the car everyday to work. I know have the time needed to work on it.
Ok here's what I have planned. Still run my longtube headers and my ORY. But I'm thinking that I'll use this after the ypipe http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Magna...mZ130044690868
and then go to 2.5" pipes that'll bend and go out the sides. On the way from the middle of the car out I will put in a chammbered muffler on each one for some good sound. I'm thinking I'll use the Borla tips I have now and cutout the RS GFX sides I have so they'll come out of it.

One of the biggest problems I'm having is finding a rear GFX peice that'll look good. They all have the two slots where the tips are suppose to come out and it won't look right with nothing in there.
I'm thinking about using this rear bumper http://www.lmperformance.com/6578/1.html and either putting some reverse lights in the exhaust spot or just filling in the holes alltogether.

Sounds good! I'd like to see a photochop of the finished product. And about that rear bumper, i'd just fill it in. Dont go with the reverse lights, it would just look out of place imo.

Ive seen that rear bumper at CSF on a car, it looks bitchin... dunno how it would look without tips. Have you thought about the stock RS rear piece?

I dunno how the underbody differs on yours, but how are you going to fit all this under your car? Are you doing to have room for two mufflers and bending pipes with enough ground clearance?

I was thinking the stock RS one as well. At least I could save a good amount of money by buying it.

I think I'll have enough room, I mean it can't be lower than the GFX are. Basicly what I'm probably going to do is buy the ypipe I showed in the first post as well as some 2.5" piping put the car up install it and see were I'm at. Then I can decide on what's the best way to do it. Since I'll be doing it myself and welding it in myself I should be able to help tuck it pretty high up. Remember my ORY is 3" coming off the headers and that's lowering than everything else so I'm really no to worried about it. I just love the idea of having a custom car.

Here's a couple pictures from someone on LS1Tech. (They did a cheap job on it but it show's it can be done.)

Make sure when you actually go to do the end of the pipes after the bullets (I assume your going to use bullet mufflers..) that you weld them to something secure and dont just leave them losely hanging, cause that looks like 1/2 inch off of the frame, and going over little bumps and hearing the pipes smack the living hell out of the frame and dent that piping would suck.

Yeah, thats pretty sweet. So youre going to use the borla intercooled tips?

Where does your y-pipe come after the headers, is it out under the passengers side?

Wouldn't it be much easier to ditch the y-pipe? I would think that you would have many more options of tucking it up closer if you could run the pipes and not have to worry about the bends of the y. Just run true duals with the chambered mufflers in a simple L configuration. JMO.

Awesome. I have wanted to do that for years now but don't have the cash to spend on it. Personnally I think you should just fill the gaps in with fiberglass.

Southeastern WI does but somehow my car got registered in a town that doesn't have emissions. Weird huh

Plus since I'm no longer driving the car that much I can register it as a sports/recreactional car and I won't have to worry about emissions anymore.
