grip the plug at the boot and turn it to break whatever seal it may have created... Your supposed to put some di-electric compound in the boots when you put on new plugs and wires to keep it from sticking like that.... Any plugs will work okay, some will work better than others.

Pretty much just listen to what Paar said, and those metal cylinders... are you talking about heat shields?

I figured he was talking about the inside of the boot... If so, just grip the boot, twist and pull... If youre talking about the heat shields (L shaped) they just pull off.. Make sure to put them back on though.

EDIT: wrong button

Yea, I was trying to figure out what he was talking about. I rarely ever see the wires 'break' regardless.

what i was talking about when i said break was the terminal inside the wire that connects to the plug stays on the plug when you pull the wire off. i had this happen to me on three of the wires when i changed the plugs in my dodge ram. as far as the "heat shields" they come out of the side of the engine and cover almost the whole wire boot. they are tubes. there isnt much of the boot to grab that is why i posted the first time. the wife was pissed when i broke them on my truck, just trying to avoid the wrath lol

Do the tubes remove with velcro at all? Or can you slide them up the wire? If not, you might have to cut those pups off... Maybe try using a needle nose pliars, but dont squeeze to hard... Doesnt matter if you ruin the wires at this point since youre replacing them.

I gotta ask, do you plan on changing the plugs also? The plugs are a complete ***** to change, so I would suggest doing that while youre at it... Youll find out what I mean when you try to take the plugs out. While youre doing work there I would change them... youll never wnat to do it again after hahah.

i am not changing the wires just the plugs. i am changing them because i think they might be fouled up from when her cat was clogged. i have a code for random misfire that is why i am changing them first.

Ohh... I thought I read somewhere you were changing the wires.. I see. haha. Pick up some di-electric compound for when you put them back on.
