Sparkplugs and Wires

Since my Z is new to me I want to do a complete tuneup myself but I'm not sure which spark plugs or spark plug wires to go with.

I'm getting prepared to do the same with Mayhem...

Mike Jones 02-19-2005 01:38 AM

I'm thinking MSD wires and NGK TR55 plugs

Sinister95Z 02-19-2005 05:13 AM

Go with either Taylor custom or Taylor OVC's and NGK TR55's. That's what I put on mine and I am very happy with them.

I've had trouble with the msd wires the ends kept comming off

Everyone seems pretty happy with the Taylor wires.. out of all the wires here, what would be your top 3 arch? I am always interested to hear your opinion. http://www.ftpp.net/V6Ignition.htm#Wires

I've had good luck with accel, bosche, and ac (they have the same resistance reading as the high dollar ones usually) nology is supposed to be good stuff I never tried them, mallory seemed about the same as the msd the ends came off when I tried to read plugs

TPiS should have a decent set of wires for your LS1- and Bosch plugs have always been good for me. I know NGK's work the best in my sled, so I know they make decent 2 stroke plugs, I would assume that they make good plugs for cars too.

Not that this really applies, I tried a set of Denso's in my sled and I fouled them out in the first ten miles. I am the type of person who once a brand is junk for me it takes some convincing to tell me otherwise.

Thanks, I never thought of them. Whenever I think of TPiS I think of headers, heads, etc... I'm going to check out their site.

would the 8.5mm MSD wires or the 8mm Taylor wires be better ?

I believe mine are 8mm taylor wires

NoRiceInside 02-21-2007 04:28 PM

damn guys. 2 years old!

blue89vert 02-21-2007 05:48 PM

=O. ill contribute to this old *** thread i gues. i have bosch plugs which are ok i guess but im going to change them again once i start driving my car. my wires are mixed with some of my old ones and some new bosch ones b/c the bosch ones wouldn't all work with my headers :banghead:

Sinister95Z 02-21-2007 06:18 PM

It is funny how two years can change opinions though. Even though I know you are not looking any more, now I would have to recommend Magnecor wires and TR6 plugs.

BOSCH platinum + 4..

will the BOSCH platinum +4 plugs with the four electrodes at the tip be good for my 3.4 v6 ?
