phate the random thought is good. lotta them supra things are like that too.....

bolt in subs are good umi makes em boxed i believe?

archemedes 03-17-2008 01:55 PM

bolt in subs are useless kind of like a wheelie bar on a civic, the bolts stretch, the sheetmetal moves, weld in is creating a stronger joint, and ing the load

whitecamaro96 03-17-2008 06:15 PM

well i dont know any one that can weld good and was trying to avoid having to take it to a shop because that would be more money so would the bolt one ones be ok? and how much better is the 3 point better than the 2?
like this http://umiperformance.com/2002?category_id=129

it depends what your using it for, street or strip I guess. and you can weld them later anyways...

whitecamaro96 03-17-2008 06:34 PM

im just using it for the street somthing to jsut improve the handling on corners and what not i dont race much if ever

bolt in ones should be fine, get some titanium bolts and some lock tight and call it good!

I have three point bolt-in subframe connectors and don't have any issues at all. They are easy to install and make an instant difference. To me the best part about the bolt-in ones is that you can install them yourself and then later have them welded to really make them secure.

mine are weld ins my shop teacher in my auto class did em. but chads right u can have the botleons welded later

I don't remember the price but I bought them off eBay.

Personally I would go with UMI's if I was going to buy a set today.

whitecamaro96 03-18-2008 12:21 PM

i think i'll just go with the umi 2 point bolt ons sounds good? how much better would the 3 point be are they worth the extra 100 since im not racing or any thing?

archemedes 03-18-2008 01:56 PM

from my experience, the bolt in ones really do nothing but look cool, they actually will cause the floor to flex (you just made a fulcrum) the type of bolts has nothing to do with it, it's the fact you are transferring all the stress that was out to that one hole, if your not going to weld them don't bother with them

paarman97maro 03-18-2008 04:21 PM

If you tighten them tight enough the stress wouldnt focus on just the holes.. Youre pinching it to the body, so its going to reinforce that area. For example, bridges wouldnt work according to your logic. I can see where welding would make much more of a difference, but to say that they are worthless without welding is a major understatement to me.

If I decide to keep modding the 6, suspension is where Im going next. Ill have to look into costs.
