Strut Tower Braces

I was just wondering if there is a difference in strut tower braces. Ever since your recent thread Chad, Ive just been thinking about maybe doing more suspension and handling to my car, since like you, I use mine more for daily driving other than racing. I found a couple on ebay, that were considerably cheaper than Ive seen before:

Decent:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/93-02...spagenameZWDVW

Cheaper:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-9...spagenameZWDVW

Just wondering if there actually is a 'cheaper' version of these (meaning material, or crappier) or if the cheaper one would be just as good as the one thats 20 bucks more.

Im just throwing around ideas for the future.

paarman97maro 02-01-2006 03:13 PM

I also just found these... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-D...spagenameZWDVW

Are these some really crappy brand?

green_machine 02-01-2006 03:46 PM

Yeah I heard it makes a difference...

paarman97maro 02-01-2006 07:36 PM

I was reading a lot about it earlier on FTv6, and they said it makes a little difference, maybe more to some than others, but every little bit helps. They said they definitly wouldnt go with that option first, as its as much of an appearance mod as it is suspension.

I think I am going to get one though, its somthing to start with. A lot of people said they would go with shocks first. Does anyone know a good place to get them for my car?

mxracerbrian 02-01-2006 07:46 PM

make one!!! haha..nah im joking.

but they seem so easy to make and they dont consist of anything

green_machine 02-01-2006 08:27 PM

i noticed a huge difference, but maby thats because i live in michigan with all of the pot holes lol

nice

69z-28 02-01-2006 09:49 PM

y'all are crazy. Illinois and chicagoland area has THE ABSOLUTE WORST potholes ever. Wisconsin has awesome roads compared to the crap down here and we even have tollways that dont fix the roads after we give them 1.50 each way!!!

o BTW the guy that sold me the WS6 had a BMR STB on it and said he felt a big difference with just that

I personally couldn't feel a difference whatso ever. Some people say they can other's say they can't. I think it has more to do with how your car is, i.e does it have high miles or is it praticly(sp) brand new and still tight and also how hard it's been driven.

I personally would buy a cheaper one, I bought mine off eBay real cheap. I think it's a BMR one but I'm not sure to be honest.

Matt's right though, the Chicago area roads are HORRIBLE. Which really pisses me off because less then two miles into IL and I have to pay a $1.50 toll. WI has no tolls and our roads are 100 times better. This could be another reason I didn't feel a difference.

niceroc 02-01-2006 10:43 PM

u drive 2 miles? why go on the tollroad then?

paarman97maro 02-01-2006 10:49 PM

If its anything like the area here, EVERYTHING is connected by the highways.

I dont think WI roads are bad at all... Minnesota is horrible. Everywhere I go, I swear my rims are going to turn into hexagons before I leave this state.

No I'm saying the toll is right after you enter IL. You pass the welcome to IL sign then you get the pay us for entering IL one.

and my school, and minneapolis, and everywhere around the cities.... oh yeah, and the blood road (I-90)

Bernotas05 02-01-2006 11:29 PM

all the roads around here are shity as hell the only nice road is I-81 and parts of route 924 thats the only places its not coverent it potholes. my ride to school theres a 3 mile strech on 924 that is nothin but potholes everywhere the whole way im definatly taking the interstate to school when i bring the car back out even though it takes longer on the interstate. and the rest of the roads are just a mess from the coal breakers the trucks goin in and out of there all day make it a ****** mess

paarman97maro 02-01-2006 11:31 PM

Paul I like the STB you have.. I like the first one also.. I dont know which would look better, which is what it prettymuch comes down to.

Bernotas05 02-01-2006 11:34 PM

Yea the one i have looks sweet and i acutally could tell the different from it, it handles a lot better. im powder coating mine yellow once i find a place around here to do it

Bernotas05 02-01-2006 11:43 PM

Yea i am still deciding my paint sceme, i might just repaint it black and do stripes up the ram air scoops all the way back yellow, im not goin to have enough cash with school and all to go all out and get the whole thing done yellow

Yeah i may have exagerated a bit on the wisonsin road conditions.....Personally I think the roads in Minneapolis/st.paul are way worse!!:banghead:

paarman97maro 03-08-2006 12:08 PM

Well I just got my STB today, Im gonna go pick it up right after I post this, but I had an idea for it. Some of you may know that I bought a couple decals a while ago one for my interior, so I have one left over. These are 1" tall and 12" wide, so I was thinking I may put one of these on the center of my STB. Im just wondering if you guys think it will stick? Im assuming it would, but just wondering if anyones done it, or knows if it will stay?

I would think about using UMI performance. They are helping us out by sponsoring our site. Might as well help them by purchasing their products.

Yeah I already thought about that, and already checked. They didnt have any for a V6 there. Theyre all for V8s.

paarman97maro 03-09-2006 01:28 AM

Chad, did you do the decal yourself? Any tips or directions on how you did it if so?

How warm is warm? Does room temperature work?
