Most cams only make power in the upper RPM bands. The CC306 makes tons of power but give you the torque curve of an LS1.

yea unless you look at like big block cams they arent gonna usually be for low wned torque.

what he's saying is higher rpm's than you really want on a street motor. Why not do the job right and call for a recomendation based on engine trans and driving habits?

yeah most cams are used for higher rpm anyways, but i looked on the sitre and it says for chevy 96 lt1 for the lt4 hot cam it can be used for strip, street and is computer compatible and it also said gives power from idle to 6k. plus i went on ls1sounds.com and listened to some people who have the lt4 and it has a nice rough idle like im looking for so i think im gonna go with the lt4 hot cam kit, what kinda heads would go good with this? do they sell lt4 heads?

don't choose a cam on sound that's a great way to have a car with no *****. get an expert recomendation that is barely a performance cam

i dont want something that is gonna be extreme because im gonna have to pass emissions, plus the lt4 has more intake and exhaust than the guy at comp cams suggested

more lift or duration? both give power in different ways, too big a cam can kill performance too

i dont remember which it was but the lt4 was 218 and 228 and comp cams was 215 and 220

you may be surprised to find the comp cams may make more USABLE power, the lt4 cam makes power say at 5500 and the comp one makes it at 4500 which are you more likely to be able to keep in for teh longest time?

I was doing a generalization, passing emmisions if you go with one comp recomends more than likely, all the perameters, lift duration lsa can effect stuff

Thank you Arch- at least someone on here believes me that the LT4 is not all that its cracked up to be. I am sure its a nice cam and all, but don't believe the hype- there are a lot more cams out there that will make much more "USABLE" power...

And yes Arch is right again- without other mods a big cam with a nice lopey idle will kill your performance- it will sound cool at idle but not have the ball$ to back it up-
