Time for Head

Alright.... so anyone ever replaced their own head? What am I looking at as far as costs go... Just cause the place that she is at now wants to charge me $3600 to replace one head... and honestly I don't think that is worth it considering I only paid $6000 for the car, and have put twice that into repair bills in the past year and a half...

it's not too hard if your mechanically inclined, pull the intake, and anything attached to teh head, and it's off. Get a service manual for teh valve lash instructions, and specs

coolest thread name ever.

While you are at it, sounds like it is a good time for a LE1 or LE2 package. Prolly cheaper than just replacing it with replacement parts.

heck do a set of brodix, or other aftermarket heads for about the same money

NoRiceInside 07-06-2005 08:17 PM

hey cassie, i can do it for ya for 500 bucks.

1hot95z 07-07-2005 02:12 AM

Caleb... I may take you up on that... Russ said he would help 'if he had time'... which... well yeah... don't know what that means... lol...

NoRiceInside 07-07-2005 03:56 AM

sure. i mean i've swapped heads on my car before...i did the heads and entire valvetrain, took me 4 days straight. with just one head i can probably do it in a single day if i work fast. which side is it? and do you already have the head or do you need to purchase a new one?

Bernotas05 07-07-2005 01:38 PM

You should be able to do it, i did it before it wasnt hard at all just remember what went where, youll be fine, good luck.

1650 for a le2 package and then if you know a mechanic thats not trying to **** you im sure you could get it done for like 3 or 4k at least thats my guess on both. Am i wrong guys

To my knowledge brodix doesn't make heads for the LT1.

they will if you ask nice :D

Heads aren't that hard..

here are the hardest parts- taking the egr stuff off the back of the intake and pass manifold and the coolant tube that connects the two heads together.

Other than that its just time consuming...

Yeah and then you get to pay that "nice" price.:lolsign: I would kill someone in front of their own mother for some 15 degree LT1 Dart heads with all the trimmings. :)
