Tip top locks

Hi, i searched a little bit for a tutorial but didn't find anything. I bought the tip top locks recently but don't know how they work, i took off the tip top, got the cover and lever out but the lock cilinder doesn't seem to fit in a way i can avoid the mechanism to get open. There's a pattern to fit the lock but in that position, it lets the "moving" piece of the lock out of the mechanism area.
I'm thinking it may be a matter of a missing piece, but wanted to ask if some of u guys have somo pics or a comment about it. Sorry for this rookie question.
