if you drive well it's no big deal. I drove a '69 Camaro my first winter driving, and had no trouble and they weigh less than the 4th gen

They are not 'faster'. You just have more unmodified control, meaning until you get an auto performance tuned (or put in a chip), you can outshift an auto with a manual.

To be honest, when I have children, they first car they are getting is going to be a manual. Not only does it teach them how to drive one, it forces them to pay attention and not eat while driving, use a cell phone etc.

The V6's have whats called SGS (second gear start), it makes a huge diff. when wet, all it does is lock the tranny out of 1st unless you hold the pedal to the floor. ASR is what the v8's got, its more of a traction control than the SGS is. Anyway, I think SGS became standard in 97? Dont quote me on that.

EDIT: I lied
1999
Second gear start (SGS) became standard this year, with it being an option previously. SGS forces the transmission to stay out of first gear, starting it in second. This helps gain control over the car much easier as compared to first gear when in slippery conditions.

Typically traction control is usually only needed in vehicles that can break-traction..haha-

Ok, now that I have pissed off the V6 guys- here's a simple solution- don't drive like an ******* and you should be fine. I have been caught in a couple flash rainstorms and can manage not to fishtail my car. My point is this- if you fishtail your car in wet-weather then more than likely you are either trying to, (which I hope) or you don't know how to handle your car properly.

Its up to you- if you get your car and go around with either the gas floored or the brake to the floor, then you shouldn't be driving. Also- if you think that spinning your one tire every time while leaving someplace is cool, then you should just be slapped. Nobody worth impressing is going to be impressed. Save your gas and your tires. If you fall into the one wheel peel club, follow my easy instructions.

1.)Stand facing a wall with your arms and legs .
2.)Place both hands on the wall.
3.)Now with all the force you can muster, slam your head into the wall.
4.)Repeat steps 1-3 until you fall down.
5.)When you fall down, go back to step one and start over.

Now if you are thinking that this would make you look like a moron, guess what, its too late- you already are. One-wheel peels are not only make you look like a moron, they are also the gayest thing since Doogie Houser, oh wait, he's gay too and so are you- class dismissed..
