tranny rebuild

so my transmission is going down hill fast and im in neeed of a rebuild soon. im thinking about going viper internals wat you all think"?

thats why im trying to sell all my stuff

archemedes 10-25-2007 07:33 PM

the viper internals are the only ones worth doing really, unless you get a deal on vette internals (they can handle almost as much torque as the viper, but a ton more than the fbody)

FrYd-RyS 10-26-2007 12:26 AM

its so hard finding anyone that will touch a t56 here idk why.
can u link me a complete viper internal set pleeasse

archemedes 10-26-2007 07:24 AM

most places don't touch them because the fbody one is so weak (rated for 300 ft lbs torque according to an article I have)

FrYd-RyS 10-26-2007 02:27 PM

thats why im putting viper internals in :)

archemedes 10-26-2007 04:19 PM

check salvage yards for decent pricing on the internals, otherwise you pay an arm a leg and part of your neck for them new

FrYd-RyS 11-09-2007 05:04 PM

im getting my tranny rebuilt monday. carbon fiber syncros, billet keys, iron shift forks, zo6 clutch 01-02 hydrolics, polyurethane mounts, and new gears etc

FrYd-RyS 11-17-2007 04:45 PM

so i just my tranny rebuilt with a z06 clutch and reverse it still really hard to get it into, i read that it could be the skip shift was put on the reverse soleniod? is that true.

also when in neutral with the clutch out only when out. i hear a spinning noise from the tranny any ideas?

thanx

blue89vert 12-17-2007 09:43 PM

thats possible im not sure though. the only time my car is hard to get into reverse it if my car is rolling forward. not positive why yours would do that. probly the skip shift

FORCE_FED_Z 12-18-2007 06:29 PM

I doubt they are switched..even if they were it wouldn't be active under the circumstances of trying to put it into reverse, unless of course you try and do it while going between 10-20 mph..

As far as your spinning noise, I know that earlier f-bodys would have that when they put 'vette clutchs in their tranny's. As soon as the clutch was depressed it would go away though. Not sure if this is what you are talking about.

As far as hard going into reverse, I would always just rock the shifter back and forth from 1st and 2nd then back into reverse- what you are doing is stopping the internals from still spinning which is what can make it hard to get into reverse sometimes.
