camaroboi33 05-31-2007 02:52 PM

are you sure? you cant just tighten it?

Ws6GoFast 05-31-2007 02:57 PM

there not expensive and its its an esay change guys. Put the car on stands support tranny with jack and its a few bolts then put the new one in.

yeah I think theyre like $20.. they become old and worn I believe... I could be wrong though.

Phate 05-31-2007 03:11 PM

There is no 'loose' one. Tightening it would be pointless.

Just go get another one. As everyone else has said, they are cheap.

Jpack 05-31-2007 03:13 PM

Get a poly one. Any power in the car will tear a stocker like nothing. Takes longer to jack the car up than to change the mount out.

Yep. Just get a new one. I got a new Energy Suspension poly and it works good.

haha me too

Sinister95Z 05-31-2007 08:54 PM

Poly mount here as well. As stated before, just replace it.

Bernotas05 05-31-2007 09:02 PM

I agree with everyone, its easy as hell to change out.

paarman97maro 05-31-2007 11:00 PM

SO any other light on this? Where exactly is the mount? right underneath the tranny by the pan? I need to change mine too, dont know where its at.

Can you pick up poly ones from any auto store, or do you have to order them up online?

camaroboi33 05-31-2007 11:31 PM

okay this is what you do to find it cuz it's hard to explain...look for a pic of it online and then look for it on your car....it's gonna have a bracket lookin thing on it to help support the transmission the mount is on top of that....i know thats probably hard to understand but wen u see it youll get it..

sman 05-31-2007 11:42 PM

Theres supposedly a crossmember at the end of the trans, the mount is on top of that.

camaroboi33 05-31-2007 11:46 PM

exactly what i was tryin to say ha!.....crossmemeber thank you thats was i meant

camaroboi33 05-31-2007 11:50 PM

ok so when i shift from first to 2nd it feels like the trans is bouncing if i shift to early is that becuz of the mount?

paarman97maro 05-31-2007 11:56 PM

sounds like a tranny mount.

camaroboi33 06-01-2007 12:10 AM

what is a poly mount

paarman97maro 06-01-2007 12:12 AM

better than stock, but i hear they have to have slight modification to fit on our cars.

2000v6cam 06-01-2007 12:37 AM

poly usually just refers to the material so instead of rubber, polyurethane (or however u spell that) and yea easy change and once u see the bottom of ur car u will know what it is

camaroboi33 06-01-2007 10:41 AM

ya i know what and where the trans mount is i was just wondering what the poly ones were and why are they better?

Sinister95Z 06-01-2007 01:26 PM

The material that they are made of last about ten times longer than rubber. The transmission will not feel as mushy and will not move around as much as well. Whenever you are replacing bushings (tranny, motor mounts, control arms...etc.), polyurethane is a good alternative to the stock pieces mainly due to longevity and an overall stiffer better handling car.

Amurican_Muscle 06-01-2007 05:05 PM

Polyurathane absorbs torque much better than stock too... making it harder to break.

It's real easy. It's pretty much right in between the tranny and the crossmember. 2 bolts go through the crossmember and through the mount.

And yeah, autozone has Energy Suspension poly mounts... Not sure about shucks or checkers or whatever.

FORCE_FED_Z 06-01-2007 06:47 PM

The Energy bushings also have metal bars that interlock between the poly, so if for some reason the poly does rip it still will hold the transmission unlike the stock one which will just rip and then you get to watch your shifter move up and down everytime you step on the throttle.

paarman97maro 06-04-2007 01:02 AM

So yeah was under my car this past weekend and my mount is definitly ****** haha.. It looks like it crushed in on inself... just looks bad. I gotta fix that... as well as a few other things. Looks like money will be going into the car for repairs in the coming paychecks.

Anyone know prices for the poly mounts? Should I just ask for a generic one, or are they specific to model?

Also where do I jack up the tranny.. I just dont wanna crush ****.. or is this more of a lift job?
