trunk conversion?

Can i change my power trunk to a regular kind of latch? I just spent like $50 on a new motor and it went out again already! And $50 was ebay price. I am sick of this happening and i just want to be able to close my trunk on a regular basis. Any info will be helpful. thanks in advance

don't buy them off egay, your buying a used pos, buy a new one they don't go bad nearly as often, and don't leave the hatch open while driving. You may be able to get the whole mechanism off of say an '83 but I'm not positive

You seem to have a lot of the same questions as I do,lol. I called the chevy parts dept yesterday and they said i can put the regular latch assembly in there as long as you get both top and bottom pieces. Mines busted and wont hardly stay closed. So I'm just gonna get an assembly from a junk yard hopefully. If you get yours done post up and tell me how it worked out for you. Thanks.
