Turbo V6 vs LT1 vs LS1??????
Planning a new project for my daily driver and have to have an eye toward the ever increasing cost of gas. Really think that a manual transmission F-body is the way to go. Now to decide which one to go with. I have done searches but it is difficult to get the information that I'm looking for like MPG and octance rating for the different engines. No matter what I purchase I will go to some type of cold air intake, headers/exhaust and suspention upgrades.
Critera I'm looking at:
Cost to modify/purchase, of course would have to modify the V6 to a turbo and just purchase the other two.
Highway MPG, most of my driving is done on the hyway
What octane level of gas would be required?
Most important is the fun/comfort factor, need something that can get out of it's own way. Not into racing but deffently like going aroud corners.
For the best bang per buck, which would you recommend??
Thanks in advance!!

V6 3800 Engines use 87 Octane. However if you put a turbo in it, your gonna need to run higher Octane.
LS1 you need to run 92/93 Octane. They are a high compression engine. Especially if you put a turbo on an LS1.
The only time you can get away with say a V6+Turbo running on 87 Octane is if you live where I am (7k foot elevation) and ambient air pressure is 10.4psi (sealevel = 14psi). So on 6psi boost your only gonna be 2psi above sea level ambiant and can probably get away with 87 octane.
A stock 3800 can expect 15 to 19mpg City and 28 Highway.
Open up the bottom of your intake with the cold air intake mod, add in the SLP ram air package, and get rid of the air baffles and you can add about 1-2mpg to it plus some horses.
A Turbo will increase the efficiency of the engine, therefore the MPG will increase. BUT as a wise man in another PC thread once said "Only if you can keep your foot off the fun pedal."
