wow grey, please stop talking. You give out more false info than camarov6.com.

Anyways, yes gears will increase your 1/4, your 0-60, whatever. Get lower gears for better highway, steeper for better city. Im getting 3.42s cause I do a lot of highway.

This thread was agony to read. Lots of stupid questions, with lots and lots of incorrect answers. Please for gods sake if you dont know if your correct, dont give someone advice.

PS - Stop double posting / thread whoring :p a 7 page thread in one day is ridiculous.

Lol, I told him to check out cv6.com or ftv6.com. More info for the v6 over there, no offense.

Paar, did you get LSD too? If so what kind Auburn or Zexel Torsen?

viper04af 11-08-2006 08:19 AM

ftv6 is a good site... I like it much better. I only read the intake/exhaust area on cv6... and so many people are retarded there, I just stopped.

I didnt get a LSD yet... soon though. Im looking at a couple on ebay now, and theres a couple others throwing out prices. Trying to decide.

Read what you said on all of page 2 + 3... you really dont know what you were talking about.

mpg gets worse with steeper gears? thats a VERY general statement. they will get worse on the HIGHWAY.

400 for gears and an LSD? No. Maybe if youre getting them from Lingenfelter.

and saying it wont improve 1/4 times......

Just please dont respond if you dont know the answer. If Im looking for help... Im not looking for a BS answer, Im looking for someone who knows their ****. Especially someone whos trying to learn.

gears don't always improve teh 1/4 mile time, you want them to match teh trans and engine for it's rpm power band

gear in a v6 will always help the 1/4 mile, infact .5 is not uncommand to reduce the 1/4 mile with 4.10's

paarman97maro 11-08-2006 06:02 PM

Ive read enough to know that stepping up from 3.08s to 3.42s with a LS will improve your 1/4 times.

maybe in an f body, but in many cars it does hurt, it also depends on other mods (a friend of mines 3rd gen camaro slowed down when he went to 4.10's by almost a full second, my monte carlo was quickest with 3.73's) general statements that something always helps are usually wrong, there is always someone who has not had it help

blue89vert 11-08-2006 08:22 PM

see i was right. gears dont always improve 1/4 mile times. im looking at my summit magazine right now and differentials w/o gears from eaton start at like 450...gears alone start at 200. i corrected myself about the gas mileage after i thought about it also.

Phate 11-08-2006 08:49 PM

The type of gear you run can hurt or help you. It all depends on your powerband. I have a high end powerband due to the type of cam I have, so I use 4.10's for a steeper powerband.
