Weird sound

Well i had just got off a rocky gravel road or whatever when i started to notice a very strange noise coming from the rear of the car. The sound only happens when im off the pedal at about 2500-3000 rpms with the car in any gear (m6) However i noticed today that it seems to make the noise more when im breaking. Its very hard to explain the sound, it almost sounds like a jake brake on a big rig but in short bursts. Im gonna put the car on a lift tonight and check out my u joints, but it almost sounds like its coming from the exhaust? from inside the car the sound originates right behind the center armrest, and it does not do it when the car is idling

?

my guess from the description would be exhaust, seems like the pressure would be releasing when youre letting off the gas and thats why youre hearing the noise.. Maybe an exhuast leak, I dunno tho, thats just my guess.

Could be that but maybe something with the rear, driveshaft. Couldnt really tell unless I heard it. Kinda hard to guess with that you said

just noticed it gets more violent sounding the higher the speeds are. It really sounds exhaust related, i still have the stock exhaust on (244k) miles. Imagine bubbles like popping out the tailpipe at random times
