What Kind of Headers should i get

im looking at BBK GM Headers

http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerc...46&prmenbr=361

Im also looking at a air foil anyone know the Hp gains on a air foil

fbird42 12-09-2004 09:40 AM

first off.. what kind of exhaust setup do you have as of right now?

NoRiceInside 12-09-2004 10:54 AM

those look good, but you cant beat long tubes.

RFF 12-09-2004 11:47 AM

Air foil = pointless.

Ss for headers, I recommdend Dynetech headers, very good flow and you lose no ground clearence with these headers.http://www.lgmotorsports.com/shop/pr...53ee13683289f9

97z2801ss 12-09-2004 01:25 PM

yea i have an airfoil didnt really doo much, got a bigger throttle body thoe now too.

Those are good headers but I also like Hooker and TPiS's.

imported_2fast4u 12-09-2004 05:36 PM

go with the hooker lt (drool) yeah i also have an airfoil its not like u can really notice the gain but its suppose to help and the design was deffinately diffrent than stock

NoRiceInside 12-09-2004 07:45 PM

dynatech has larger primaries than most others if i'm not mistaken...problem is you gotta get the collector seperate. :(

1BADZ 12-09-2004 09:37 PM

yah zach ha i would go with tha hookers, i think i can get u a set of the hookers at work for about 375 with my discount, the super comeptitions or something!
but those bbk's aint bad for the price!

You gotta pay more for the better flow. I remember someone did a comparsion on Hooker and Dyantechs on CZ28.com and the Dynatechs out performed the Hookers in every possible way.

1BADZ 12-09-2004 10:55 PM

hmmm. well i would have to see the results to belive it, i am not a big fan of dynatechs, dont hear to many good things about them, but also u wana look at the quality of the flange of the header, so u dont burn out as many gaskets, bc header gaskets are not the easiest thing in the book to do, but try to find some with atleast a 1/4 inch thick flange on them it would be nice!

exactly with the cheap flange most companies use the gaskets blow and great a lean condition, dynatech is an entry level company from what I understand

Header gaskets aren't that hard to do. They look like it but once you do it a couple times it only takes about 10 minutes to do.

I had BBK headers on the first car, Edelbrocks on this car. Both of which I can say I like. If you get the BBK's get the ceramic coated ones. The chrome starts to discolor after about 5 minutes-

97z2801ss 12-10-2004 12:35 PM

Hooker Supercomp Long tubes:)

fbird42 12-10-2004 12:49 PM

Edelbrock ceramic Jet-Hot coated headers with Y-pipe
Mufflex custom 3 1/2" intermediate pipe
High-Flo cat
High-Flo muffler

It all adds up to a bigger number but well worth it for the LT1 (=

I'd stay away form Edlebrock, anything that can be 50 state legal cannot flow to good.

fbird42 12-10-2004 02:44 PM

edelbrock headers flow quite well.. hookers are okay too

1BADZ 12-10-2004 02:54 PM

hooekers super comp is the ones i can get u, so i would also go with thim, just like z28ss01 said!!!!

yeah they aren't hard but why do it a bunch of times if you can just get a better flange and avoid the issue altogether

1BADZ 12-12-2004 03:09 AM

thats true how big is the bbk's?

Well I figured that they would get better gaskets on their own...

BUT- if the gaskets need to be changed it's not as hard as people think- thats all I was sayin-

archemedes 12-12-2004 11:27 PM

yeah it's not hard just annoying to have to do

Yeah but if you have to go through emissons it doesn't leave you with a lot of choices.

1BADZ 12-13-2004 12:28 AM

ha yah emissions suck!!

97z2801ss 12-13-2004 12:57 AM

95BlackZ 12-15-2004 09:13 AM
