what should have i expected?
Alright, i put on long flow headers on my 1983 camaro, (BIG MISTAKE) well i did a custom exhaust job (Laugh if you want LOL) I didnt weld anything yet.. But i got some 2 1/4inch pipe and piped it straight back to the X and i only have 3 inches of ground clearance LMFAO! And WOW i didnt think it would be that bad.. but i have some Raptor mufflers on there and i will type up how i got the car and what not i want this to stay this thread to stay tech. My shocks are Shot i think.. the back doesnt bounce very much.. this may be just a beater car cause i already have the 1988 camaro, but would like the exhaust to Not to drag. the custom job i did is just straight back, i saw pics somewhere it s the same other people have done it.. any way, any help is greatly Appriated (I spelled that wrong didnt i?)
How i got the car and what ive done to it. You dont have to read this if you dont want, this paragraph isnt very tecnical.
I got the car 1 year ago, ( FREE yes thats right FREE, until now. the car needed a Motor and Tranny and the Really long bar for the tranny. the car needed(s) a windsheild Interior work! It had sat for five years in a barn with no wall on one side, i put in a 1968 350 SS, while i did that i noticed the oil dipstick was on the right side of the block and the stock manifolds to the car would not work with the dip stick, i found out when the dipstick snapped off in the block! that wasnt a good day, i got it out bought a new chrome dipstick from Tawaiin that was quite the snug fit! so i found myself buying long flow headers from Flow tech (BAD IDEA!) well that worked until i let the car off the blocks and noticed how bad this was going to be. I Installed everything my self Outside with wrenches and a 1/2 inch drive socket set.. i have a compressor and wrench now cleaned up the car a bit, i saw surface rust on the bottom floor pan, thought i would scrape it off with a wire brush and spray bed liner on the bottom of the car, well i found a few Holes, i ripped the seats and carpet out saw how bad it was no holes bigger than a QUATER (did i spell that wrong?) so my dad says you going way too fast with this project, and hes like heres a few things you can do, wait a while and get a welder and do it right, or put Ice & water sheild on the floor pan and make it so theres not holes and when you put the bedliner sray on, it wil look fine, He also mentioned to do this cause my T-tops leak once and a while. Thats all good now, thats fixed. exhaust is the big problem now, this is the last step, and time to register and try to get a sticker, the mufflers are not loud, but they sound alright.. I bet no one reads this LOL..

could be the springs are shot, shocks don't hold a car up springs do.If there is rust you gotta get that off before doing anything, use some zero rust or por 15 before the bedliner material and get the holes welded up

Yea, the Springs could be shot, my dad says get the, Dang I forgot what they are called, The airbag type suspension, and then i could mount the air inlet things behind the license plate..
and i am thinking, if i get one of those portable air compressors i could pump the back up while i'm on bumby roads such as where i live, and then if i happen to be on really flat smooth roads i can drop the pressure and pump them back up when i need to.. I think that would work.. i just got to find someone who has them..

if you put air shocks on it drive the thing off a cliff, those are for cars in the 70's(and should stay in the 70's) and are the worst pieces of **** to ever be put on a car.If you do an airbag suspension (whole different story) it will have it's own compressor

if you use them to raise the car you make it unsafe to drive, the car is too low because the springs are worn out, you need good springs, using air shocks to fix sagging springs is like putting a band aid on a gunshot wound it'll help some but it aint gonna fix it

Yea, I am getting springs, and gonna see how much it helps, i took the car for a spin down the 300ft drive way and on the yard alittle and i bottom out once, getting off the drive way, 4 inch drop.. it didnt bottom out but it scraped the pipe alittle, not much, no marks on the pipe, but it needs springs!

This wont be a daily driver just a weekend car.. my dad says he had them on his 1978 camaro RS, and they sucked but looked cool with beefy tires on crager rims, he had this car in Hawaii before i was born LOL.. i am going with some springs first and see whats up.. i thinking not to get AirShocks but airbag Suspension if i need to go up alittle more.. maby 3inches would be Plenty..
