Whats so special about 93's?

Hey guys, so i have a 1993 z-28 which is still in the bodyshop, i have yet to take her on the road and all this time ive been searching and getting ready to buy parts...Why does Summit and most big aftermarket parts industries say 94-97 and 98-02. Now i work at the worlds biggest Fbody salvage yard and well all we really do is the 98^ cars. But i dont get why Summit and them wouldnt include 93 in there year range for LT1 Fbody cars. It gets me mad i want exhaust, headers, MSD optispark, plugs, throttle body, underdrive pulleys, all kinds of little things but it says everythings for 94-97..Now whats going on did i get a retard "year only" car, i know the 98s are kinda "year only" cars so could someone give me specific year breakdown? Thanks and the site is a great help!

I have never herd anything about 98 being a "year only" car, or 93 for that matter, most everything I have seen says 93-97...., but 93 is the first year of the 4th gen, maybe that has something to do with it?

Well i didnt mean everything was differnt on the 98s, i just know for a fact alot of stupid little things are differnt. Some parts are 98 only, being the first year of the LS1 they changed a few things for the better in 99 and up

There shouldnt be anything different in the 93 than in the 94-97 as far as I know.

93 LT1 F-bodies are speed density, not MAF. Also, the T56 internal ratios differ slightly from that of later F-cars.

speed density is a different form of mesauring the amount of air coming into the engine. instead of a mass air flow sensor like hte 94 and ups have, it uses a combination of sensors like the Map sensor, IAT sensor i beleive and a few other things to determine how much air is going in. that site i linked u to will go into full detail and tell you exactly how it works and every little detail thats different about a 93.

So what makes a speed density car any better than a MAF car...in reference to "93's are the ****"

Well 93s have alot of stuff different, our transmission is 700r/4l60 not e, also no maf we realy on map sensor for that, fuel rails are diffrent then the rest of f bodys 93s had the yellow gagues insted of of the white in the 94 on. Also some things with the 93 differed from the 94, 93 valve springs were different, also somthin they have in common is that they have high output cams. But that pretty much all the differences that i know of you can add in more if ya know some.
