whats the way to go??

what is a nice LOUD exhaust i could put on a 94 3.4L auto? Im looking for a nice loud distinct sound here, so suggestions would be fabulous!

If you want loud, go with the Slp Loudmouth Cat-back

Bernotas05 02-10-2006 07:54 PM

Yea thats about as loud as it gets without going open exhaust or true duals

mxracerbrian 02-10-2006 08:27 PM

open headers???? haha

I can vouch for that since I used to have it. Oh and definatly get rid of the catalitic convertor... unless you live in a state with emissions of course (you poor souls).

my flowmaster isnt that loud but i think it sounds the best of the ones ive heard on a v6 cause if its too open it starts to sound like **** i think. but thats just my opinion.

YELLOWCAMARO94 02-11-2006 02:20 AM

im poor i took my stock intake hollowed out the cat and it has a roar right now yea when you get up to bout 3500 when you rev it it has a popping sound but it sounds crazy everyone likes it

paarman97maro 02-11-2006 02:26 AM

Sorry for the thread hijack but its somewhat relevant. :nana: So back in the day, when I had my 400 cubic inch Chevelle, I ran it open headered for awhile. THAT WAS LOUD. Can anyone give me a perspective of how loud the SLP loudmouth would be for me 3.8L compared to the loudness of my old chevelle. YES I KNOW IT WONT SOUND AS "GOOD", IM TALKING ABOUT LOUDNESS ONLY, so I can try and gauge it.

Or if you guys can't compare that, I later put 2 Flowmaster 50 series delta-flow's on my chevelle and it was a nice loud but held back sound. My friend had two 40 series flowmasters on his chevelle and it set off car alarms ALL around. Is there any comparison of loudness you guys can give me here, because I have never personally heard the loudness of the SLP. Would it be like 3/4 the opened headers. Or about equal with the chevelle with the 40 series muscle car mufflers? ... Haha, im rambling, but anyway, im just trying to figure out how trully "loud" this thing is, because I've heard so much .... :D

2000v6cam 02-11-2006 07:52 PM

ive heard loud one but if a v6 gets to loud it gets really raspy if its completely open and one time i broke be exhaust at the cat and that was loud as **** :lolsign:

Yea i ran my 3.8 when i had it no exhaust just the header manifolds and cat and man that was too loud, it sounded sweet at low rpms but **** when you got on it it sounded like a ****** up weed wacker on steroids

Sooo ... SLP LM would be the choice for loudness ... Overall, isn't that the favorite exhaust choice for loudness

Oh, and yeah, I already know about the rasp. :p ...

it is from lack of backpressure, but its not a backfire. those are two completely different things...
