y-pipe help!

Well most all of you know that I now need a new y-pipe for my car after installing headers. I cant find one thats made for those headers so I think i am going to make one. I could get header reducers and than get 2 flex pipes connected to that and cut down my stock y pipe and clamp the flex pipes on to that. I have a good feeling this would work fine but would it be worth it? My car cant be driven to an exhaust shop any time soon so I am kinda stuck with doing it myself. SHould I do this. Or make the whole y pipe out of bigger flex pipe? HElp me out.

dont use flex pipe... it sucks

blue89vert 06-19-2006 06:29 PM

what should i do?

niceroc 06-19-2006 06:56 PM

ummm.. take it to an exhaust shop... or do that olny to take it to the exhaust shop...

blue89vert 06-19-2006 06:57 PM

how much should it be to have a shop make a y pipe for me?

JesasaurusRex 06-23-2006 06:27 PM

You do realize those headers come with a y pipe

blue89vert 06-23-2006 09:47 PM

and you know that i got them used and they didn't come with the y pipe

Why would you buy the headers with out the y pipe?

blue89vert 06-23-2006 10:48 PM

i didn't buy them, my friend traded them to me for my 10" kicker. I could have bought them for like 20 bucks...tell me thats not a good deal even without the y pipe

It's a good deal...only if you could find the y pipe (how the hell does one lose that anyways?) somewhere else. With out, theyre pretty useless. Every try to route ur own exhaust on a 3rd gen Camaro? FInd the appropriate y pipe for it or sell them. Ull thank me in the long run.

I think the guy still used the y pipe on his bird, and upgraded to different headers? I dont really know but ill see if I can get it from him.

drive it to an exhaust shop, or tow it.lol

blue89vert 06-24-2006 09:23 PM

dont have any money to get it done and I lack a liscence right now... open headers aren't too bad ;)

87RS 07-09-2006 01:23 PM

could u maybe find out who makes the headers and contact them?

blue89vert 07-10-2006 12:32 AM

yup i did and its only like 60 bucks for the pipe but they said i need some crossover pipe thats another 60 bucks...
