10 Most/Least Reliable Cars

According to the always controversial ConsumerReports, these are the 10 most and least reliable cars by class.

Small Cars
Best: Honda Fit
Worst: Chevrolet Cobalt

Family Cars
Best: Honda Accord Hybrid (this is slightly better than the 4 cyl Accord)
Worst: Volkswagen Passat

Upscale/Large Cars
Best: Lexus ES350
Worst: Jaguar X-Type

Luxury Cars
Best: 2006 Lexus LS
Worst: Cadillac STS

Sporty Cars
Best: Lexus SC
Worst: Pontiac Solstice

Wagons/Minivans
Best: Pontiac Vibe (the Toyota Matrix is essentially the same car)
Worst: Buick Terraza

Small SUV
Best: Toyota FJ Cruiser (though we've never though of this as being particularly small)
Worst: Kia Sportage

Midsized SUV
Best: Toyota Highlander Hybrid (slighly better than the regular Highlander)
Worst: Mercedes-Benz M-Class

Large SUVs
Best: Toyota Land Cruiser
Worst: Nissan Armada

Pickup Trucks
Best: Subaru Baja (this is hardly a truck!)
Worst: Nissan Titan

....annnnnd FIGHT!

Consumer reports are a joke. GM had a nice big response I think its on this forum somwhere. Why dont they do consumer reports on washing machines? or micorwaves.. If consumer reports said yamaha made home stereo equipment well that must be true.

basing domestic or imports it all a crock of what they base it on. Its some journalist that gets info from someone else , and types it down. Car enthusiasts should be writeing these reports. People who actually have a clue about several brands.

****tards. Anything with a domestic badge is simply unreliable and thats that.

The point is nobody gives a ****.. nobody cares about like that or they simply dont listen. They are going to buy whatever is a bargan. I would love for them to explain why the cobalt is a unreliable car. A sales rep at work drives one everywere and we have had no problems. It is a base model though.. I'm a moron? care to say that to me in person?

Agree, many of these cars haven't even been around for a model year or two yet. I don't see how they are rating these in terms of reliability.

Its pretty much a waste of time.

Way back when ................everyone's shorts were in a knot because Consumer Reports (& others) said that suv's were prone to roll over. Turns out they violently whipped the steering wheel from one side to the other until it tipped over. Geez, you could tip a steamroller using logic like that.

Yuppie crap to confuse simple minds. It's like movie reviews. If the reviewers all hate the movie it's likely worth watching.

I agree with you, the Fit and FJ Cruiser haven't even been out that long and they already rated it as one of the best in their class,fo me you can't rate a car until you have driven it for at least a year.Plus a few of these cars aren't even in the same class like Sporty Cars, the solstice(and saturn sky) was made to compete with the Miata and they are comparing it to a Lexus SC, which is more of a luxury sports cars, shows how much they know.
