Why wont my 2000 civic si-g with a stock 16y8 go over 200 kmph? does it need a new ecu or just a chip? At about 195 it cuts out like it hits the rev limiter. I tried it on the track 3 times.

I know the JDM computers have a speed cut at about 190, but I didn't think USDM ones did. Is it chipped or anything?

No it's not chipped. And it is frustrating. I am adding things on and can't go over ya about 190. So you think the computer is jdm?

its the factory speed limiter. My brothers '93 vx cuts off at 180km/h. Also the '90 crx cuts off at 200km/h.

I'm pretty sure all hondas if not most of them have a speed limiter

StealthZ has a little shameless behaviour in the past
the limiter is there for a reason...it means your stock car cant handle going over 195, and until you have supporting mods like suspension and brakes, you shouldnt. you drive a honda, not a racecar. if you feel like killing yourself, then theres ways possible to eliminate that limiter, just kill yourself on a sideroad and not in the middle of hwy7 with other around.

exactly dont try it withouth preparing it. my friend changed ecu and took his si to 210. the thing is that he is a retard and was riding on all season goodyear tires that arent even speedrated for anything close to 210 and he blew out and almost totaled it.

The tires on these cars also can't handle those speeds either. I usually run H rated tires onm my cars, and even then, I'm still really hesitant about higher speeds. If you guys want to speed like that, when you need the limiter, you should be driving a race car, not a stock bodied car on a track.

I hope you kill yourself, no lie.

LOL@ECU being JDM

let's be serious here though...you damn moron, what's the matter with you? do you have absolutely no sense to realize that there is a speed limiter for your damn safety? 190km/h is way faster than you should be travelling in a Civic...heck 150 is too fast in your pos car.

Seriously...grow up and drive responsibly you ****ing ****, your life must be nothing more than a pile of garbage.

if you read it again, he says "So you think the computer is jdm?". He never implied that his ecu is jdm

who knows, he might do it at the track, he might not. if he's not, its his loss. he's either gonna get caught, crash, or worse, kill someone in the process. but i can't judge someone i don't know.
