whats wrong with gtp swapped cavs? its like saying that you cant take a honda and swap a motor into it. or that you cant run a different gear set in a rwd car. youd be suprised how many fast cavs there actually are. a friend of mine frank used to have a 3800 turbo cav that ran low 11's. he worked for race tech and sold it off not too long ago. that was a street car aswell. fast enough for you? a swap is a swap. its like me telling you i wanna see your stang hit 10's but your not allowed to modify it.
there are a handful of 3400 swapped second and third gens running 13's. not that fast but its not bad for a car that ran, depending on the year, 15.7-17.0 stock. another second gen that comes to mind runs mid 13's at 115, from ontario again and part of a club im in. ive finally sorted out a boost issue i had so im getting ready to swap over my 84# injectors and turn the boost up alot higher than it is. ive got a fully built motor thatll take 25 psi and laugh about it. wont throw any numbers at you but im sure you can assume it wont be a slouch. a sunfire comes to mind with a much better built motor running a bigger turbo. that car is quite quick but has no numbers yet to back anything up so i wont throw what his car can do around, but this is the guy that tunes my car and a good friend of mine, again from the gta.
unless your building a motor and adding a power adder you need to swap something in, the stock motors just arent always a good platform to start on unless you have an ecotec, then you get get a build guide from gm to make over 1000 hp from it. and there are alot of fast ecotec cars in the states, but thats not in canada so you wont count it. a friend of mine from my area had a 500 whp sunfire that was sold which is a shame because his car was alot of fun, but now his bike feeds his need. street car, daily driven aswell.
if you wanna go back to about 98 or so, you can think of rick bolwell with his 3800 1990 cavalier. the first of its kind. mid 13 second car. again nothing as fast as a rwd v8 car will be but in stock form it was a low 16 second car.
problem with these cars paul, is theyre not a mustang, the aftermarket support isnt there for them and people were really late to modify them and right now are finally doing swaps as theyre becoming more common. and now is when your gonna start seeing more and more of these cars making some good numbers. especially withthe new 3500 people are starting to use. problem is your like most v8 mustang guys, you cant show any respect to another vehicle when its due. because no matter what, the mustang will always be the best and the fastest in your mind and everything else is a piece of

I dont want to swap the engine in my car, but for those who have car's with crap stock engines, engine swaps are essential (if you want to see a BIG increase in power).
Some ppl find V6 engines as an easier swap, more stock hp/tq than a 4 banger.

ill agree with you there. if my built motor takes a and i find it in me to continue on with this car itll get an ecotec. the v6 is good for straight line guys but it throws off the balance of an already poorly balanced car and they start to handle like even more .

Ahhh, so that's the brand new state of the art antiantium fibre re-inforced cardboard wind dam facia I've been hearing so much about as of late. That must also be the new -3 areodynamic paint that actually makes the car faster cuz it has a negative wind slip value.
